I am still emailing, faxing - shoot, I'll send up smoke signals if need be!
I cannot believe W and some repubs are capitulating and pandering to the illegals!
Like any of these folks will ever vote republican? Hahahahahahahaha!
(That is haha, as in I must be losing my mind!)
I am just sickened by this.
Waive their taxes???
Hello?? Waive mine bubba!
What makes me so incredibly sad is that we have a large network of proud illegals here in Austin and this amnesty fiasco emboldens them. The hispanic radio is blasting that they are winning . The arrogance we are seeing is appalling. I have had a number of hispanics in the last week actually become enraged at me because I do not speak their language!
What is our government coming to?
Fortunately, our senators in Texas seem to be standing firm. On the downside, we have some Dimocrat and RINO representatives that insist on supporting this amnesty in sheeps clothing.

Heaven help us if this thing passes!

I sent the following to the listing for contacting the Whitehouse:

To Whom It May Concern:

With the recent push through of the Immigration bill coming to a vote next week, I do hope Republicans are paying attention to the wide variety of your Base's reactions going on at this time.

You have comments from your Base that are talking about leaving the Republican party over this, and not ever voting for another Republican because they feel betrayed by the Republican party.

I do hope you are paying attention, because while I had hopes that the Republican party had a chance at a come back with what was happening in Congress, after this debacle with the Immigration bill, I feel like the Republican Party, the President, and any Republican that signs on to this Bill will have major problems with the Base.

I and others like myself feel deeply betrayed at the secrecy of this Bill until it is too late to do much about it, and the words leaked out about it, and what we have found out will be part of this Bill makes us very angry with any Republican that signs on to this.

It is a sad thing when because of such actions, you have initiated talk of Impeachment from the Base of the Republican party. If this does not show you how strong your Base feels about this issue, then I suggest you need to pay attention and begin looking and reading what your Base has been talking about - because they are talking, and they are Angry.

I do so hope you are paying attention, because if this gets signed into law, this very well could be the death kneel of the Republican party from what many are saying.

The Republican Base is watching this very carefully.

Links to who to contact from BlogsforBush:

Contact your GOP Senators and House members and President Bush and let them know what you think. In other words, you can exert pressure on the one political party in America which might give a darn about your views, because the Democrats won't even give you the time of day.

It was useless for me to contact my Senator or Congressman because they are all Democrats - so went to the head of the line hopefully.

Many thanks Drewsmom and Severian! I repeat again - what my wife and I went through was mild compared to what many others have gone through. We were lucky.

It is horrifying to think that USCIS - which cannot come close to handling the current legal immigration load - will be called upon to properly process 12 to 14 million felons, all of whom have every incentive to continue to scam the system in hopes of eventual full and unconditional amnesty.

And that is not counting the illegals who are drug dealers, gang members, rapists, thieves, murderers and terrorists and who already live here without being molested by legal authorities who are supposed to be protecting us. I have a theory (half snark and half serious) that Osama bin Laden has been living in the USA since 9/11. We know for a fact that governmental authorities (at all levels) do little or nothing to try to find illegal aliens.

If you were Osama, what would you rather do - squat in a damp and dark cave in Afghanistan, or live in luxuty in a "sanctuary city" under the noses of those who have loudly and boldly announced that they will make no effort to find illegal aliens? I know what I would choose.

MD, what a nightmare! As you say, this is the system that's supposed to step up and handle 12+ million new immigrants?

It's unbelievable the BS you are still going through, we reward the lawbreakers and punish those who are ethical enough to abide by the rules, and then wonder why we have serious law enforcement and ethical problems in our society. There has to be a stick to go along with the carrot or you wind up with anarchy, not punishing those who refuse the carrot results in nothing but problems and pandemonium.

My hat's off to you for doing it right, you definitely have my respect. It'd have been simpler to fly her to Mexico and have her walk across the border, then she'd be on the fast track. This legislation is a complete sell out.

VAG, you got it correct in spades! We have an elite ruling class of professional politicians who see themselves as "them" and the rest of us as "not them." They have more in common with other professional politicians than with the folks back home. The Founding Fathers wanted citizen legislators for a reason, and deToqueville recognized hundreds of years ago that a free society could be undone when voters realized they could vote into office demagogues who promised them the most freebies.

I doubt we'll see term limits in my lifetime, but I'm starting my own efforts. No more RINO votes from me, period! And once even decent pols have been in D.C. a couple of terms, no vote for them, either.

An awful lot of conservatives are going to be joining Bush back on their ranches and estates where they are living high on the hog, from their cushy pensions we paid for, and heavily insulated from the consequences of their actions while in office. Until they, too, feel the effects of their stupidity, nothing will change.

As some of you already know, my wife is a legal immigrant from Africa. A not-illegal immigrant. A documented (as opposed to "undocumented") immigrant.

To get her visa we filled out the forms - all of them. We collected the required documents. We paid the immigration fees. We dealt with the bureaucratic chimps at the US Embassy in her home country when we applied for her visa after we were married. We waited. We waited. We waited. After almost a year it took pressure from a US Congressman's office to get the embassy to do what should have only taken a few minutes to accomplish. Then the little chimp at the embassy who had been screwing us for almost a year had the nerve to scream (literally scream) at us for her incompetence because we made her look bad. Hold on - this is only the beginning.

We came to the US in 2005. The USCIS promptly lost her paperwork, and we had to re-do her biometrics (fingerprints and photo). We waited for her green card. We waited. We waited. We waited. Eventually, we had to hire an immigration lawyer (at a huge sum). Finally, it took pressure from another US Congressman's office to pry her permanent residence card (a.k.a. "green card") loose - and with only a few days before her original visa was set to expire. Don't fall asleep - there is more to come.

Because we had been married less than two years, by law a temporary provision was placed on her permanent residence card (only in a bureaucratic hellhole like USCIS can there be an entity like as a temporary permanent residence card). Late last year we had to file more forms, collect more documents, and pay more fees for her new permanent residence card without the temporary provision. We waited. We waited, We waited. Finally, her permanent residence card was renewed a few weeks ago.

And, in talking with other legal immigrants, ours is one of the happier stories - we had relatively few bureaucratic snafus!

Now, the Congress and the Bush administration want to legalize lawbreaking by an estimated 12 to 14 million felons. Keep in mind that these are the same folks who (1) cannot or will not catch the felons in the first place, and (2) cannot or will not take care of the legal immigrants already in the system.

I expected this from Democrats. These are the same politicians who want to make Iraq safe for al Qaeda. But "Republicans" are going along with this? Maybe the GOP actually got wiped out last November, and all that are left in Washington are Democrats.

The Iraq War will not damage Bush's legacy, since he has already been proven right and his critics wrong. But an amnesty bill (if he signs it) will not merely damage his legacy - it will destroy it completely. And any foreign terrorist operatives in the USA must be smiling right now, since they are - by Bush's and the GOP's hand - about to become legal residents. The irony is exquisite – the President and party that have done the most to fight terrorism in the history of the USA will end up rolling out the red carpet for terrorism. Unless you seriously believe that a government that cannot process the relatively small number of legal immigrants it has to deal with right now will suddenly and miraculously deal with an additional 12-14 million new applicants - including criminal background checks. After all, they are not catching the illegals who are presently committing rapes, murders, drug crimes, etc. Often they don't even try.

My guess is that the only thing USCIS will do is simply mail out resident cards to anyone who requests one. It will be a kind of bureaucratic junk mail.

I will not vote for anyone (Republican or Democrat) who votes for this legislation. If Bush signs it into law, I will not defend him again on this or any other issue - even when I believe that he is absolutely 100% right. He will deserve whatever punishment he gets.

Finally, it took pressure from another US Congressman’s office to pry her permanent residence card (a.k.a. “green card”) loose – and with only a few days before her original visa was set to expire. Don’t fall asleep – there is more to come.

And, in talking with other legal immigrants, ours is one of the happier stories – we had relatively few bureaucratic snafus!

But “Republicans” are going along with this? Maybe the GOP actually got wiped out last November, and all that are left in Washington are Democrats.

The Iraq War will not damage Bush’s legacy, since he has already been proven right and his critics wrong. But an amnesty bill (if he signs it) will not merely damage his legacy – it will destroy it completely. And any foreign terrorist operatives in the USA must be smiling right now, since they are – by Bush’s and the GOP’s hand – about to become legal residents. The irony is exquisite – the President and party that have done the most to fight terrorism in the history of the USA will end up rolling out the red carpet for terrorism. Unless you seriously believe that a government that cannot process the relatively small number of legal immigrants it has to deal with right now will suddenly and miraculously deal with an additional 12-14 million new applicants – including criminal background checks. After all, they are not catching the illegals who are presently committing rapes, murders, drug crimes, etc. Often they don’t even try.

My guess is that the only thing USCIS will do is simply mail out resident cards to anyone who requests one. It will be a kind of bureaucratic junk mail.

I will not vote for anyone (Republican or Democrat) who votes for this legislation. If Bush signs it into law, I will not defend him again on this or any other issue – even when I believe that he is absolutely 100% right. He will deserve whatever punishment he gets.

Wow we get screwed again. This is why I like divided government. They're too busy fighting each other to pull crap like this. I wish wish they had secured the border first. Well off to write my reps.. Not that Harry Reid will give a flying duck...

I've emailed my Alabama senators and told em that if they vote for this piece of BS amnesty for all 12 million pieces of crap they'd lose most of the Alabama voters. I told em I expected a response not a canned letter from a staffer.
I am soooo pissed off about this. Our economy, schools, social services will go down the tube if these boobs sign off on this. America as we know it will no longer exist. That part about em not being able to bring in relatives is BS too cuz they'll still sneak in to be with the ones here and the babies will still pop out and be little Americans.
Did the fools even mention anchor babies?
THEY BETTER WATCH WHAT THEY ARE DOING OR THEY WILL BE TOAST.
Thanks for letting me vent about this Sis.
Nancy from Alabama, the land of so many illegals my kid's high school now has 20 trailers in order to house the illegals here now and they are not attempting to learn the language, I should know since I am a sub teacher. !!!!!!!**== Enjoy this flag now folks, soon it will be replaed with Mexico's since alot of em want to reclaim the land they say we stole and their numbers are growing. Just what we need, we gotta fight terrorists and soon the Mexicans who claim they HAVE AN ABSOLUTE RIGHT TO BE HERE ILLEGALLY.

Communicating with my elected representatives (Loretta Sanchez, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein) regarding this issue would be like trying to teach a pig to sing -- it'd waste my time and annoy the pig.

So, thans to these here Intertoobs, I reregistered to vote, declining to state any party affiliation.

I guess we now have to learn two new languages. First, the interim national language will be Spanish as the DhimmiRATs ride the tide of Latin Americans to win the last free election. Then, just as quickly, we'll have to learn Arabic so we can say our 5-times-daily "prayers".
