They do it because they are hack journalists.

They would not know how to critically examine science information. Therefore from time to time they make complete fools of themselves.

Plus they are generally morons anyway.

There are two main pieces of evidence that James Hansen uses to claim that global warming exists. First, the observations of receding glaciers and thinning ice sheets in Greenland and West Antarctica.

<blockquote>"All glaciers in America's Glacier National Park are retreating inexorably to their final demise. Global warming is real, and the melting ice is a portent of potentially disastrous consequences."

I have read many articles where Hansen makes such statements, including those on the NASA GISS site, and never does he mention that all of these ice masses have been receding for over 100 years since the end of the Little Ice Age. Next question: Does he consistently fail to mention this very important information because it indicates a natural cause of warming? </blockquote>

Ice masses receding for over a 100 years?

Inconvenient truth indeed!

I've been to her "Ponder the Maunder" site, and this young lady is definitely sharp, and has a firm grip on the issues and science involved. When a 15 year old, albeit a bright one, can see thru the BS surrounding Anthropogenic Global Warming and understand the science involved, it is proof that this isn't that complex an issue. People who swallow the AGW crowd's bleatings hook, line, and sinker are just gullible and credulous, or in it for profit.

People want to believe this for some reason, it's as if believing that humans are bad and evil provides some kind of comfort to them, for some demented reason. The press loves the doom and gloom aspect, and the fact that the "solutions" to this non-existent problem support their favorite liberal ideals of wealth redistribution and ceding of control to the glorious world government of the UN. Too many scientists don't seem to care what the global results will be of promoting this as long as they get their grants to continue to play expensive computer games. This entire issue says very bad things about a lot of people, from the desire to believe, the lies involved, and the demonization and witch hunts against "heretics."

It's the scientific equivalent of the Inquisition and Catholic church at it's worst.
