Usually when you hear about artists and wars in the same breath, it has something to do with some anti-war nut painting about the abuse at Abu Ghraib, or other generally negative pieces of ‘art’ about our brave men and women in uniform. But believe it or not, there are artists out there who treasure America’s brave and brightest, and her name is Kaziah Hancock.
I rec’d a video link in an email from a friend about this amazing woman – it’s a little over 5 minutes long, and it talks about the work that Ms. Hancock does in honor of our fallen soldiers and their grieving families. It’s well worth watching:
I did some research and found the story this video was attached to as well, so if you have trouble viewing the video, you can read the amazing story about her and the lives she’s touched here. It may be from 2006, but some stories are enduring, and this is most definitely one is one of them.
God bless you, Ms. Hancock.

WOW. What a tremendous story. Thanks, ST.
Forest is right – she understands the price others have paid for her freedom, and she’s making every day Memorial Day.
Not all of us artists are antiwar loony tunes. Here is a link to a piece I did for the 5 year anniversary of 9/11. The lady who put the exhibition on has many family members is at least three of the branches of the military.

Wow, what a fantastic lady this artist is, I’d like to get in my car and go to her goat farm just to shake her hand and I know the families just love her.
I am writing to you regards of a painting I want done for my son Michael Tharp He lost his son last year in iraq He was loved so much. He never had a meet his little sister or brother his step mother gave birth to twins and he had plan to come home to meet them.
