My favorite of Reagan is Dark Victory with Bette Davis. If you haven't seen it, rent it. It is difficult to imagine a better looking guy than Reagan drunk in the bar in a tuxedo in that film.

we will not surrender for it, now or ever.
Apparently these days this only holds true if you are a Republican.

We will maintain sufficient strength to prevail if need be, knowing that if we do so we have the best chance of never having to use that strength.
Again, apparently these days only if you are a Republican.

God Love you forever Ronald Reagan. How we need your strength and courage today. We miss you so very much. - Lorica

Two Days in History: July 17 and July 18

Ronald Reagan — perhaps the greatest politicians in our country’s history — is now dead. Ted Kennedy — perhaps the worst man ever to be elected to political office — is still alive. Some things just aren’t fair.

That's my second-favorite picture of the Gipper.

My favorite was of him taking a stroll at Camp David with Margaret Thatcher. The two are deep in conversation. Reagan is gesturing, making a point.

It's the second-to-last one on this page:
LINK

The topic? Who knows, but we can speculate that it was probably the Cold War. In my mind, I title that picture "The Peacemakers," as the photo shows these two great leaders who lead the demise of an empire without a massive war. I love that picture because it reminds me so much of this painting of a scene from the Civil War, titled "The Peacemakers":

LINK

It depicts Generals Sherman and Grant, President Lincoln and Admiral Porter one month before the end of the war, and the topic was ending the war quickly without much further bloodshed--and "letting 'em up easy."

The Swimmer, Dingy Harry and Pelo'che need to revisit those words and try to answer at least in part, why they act like the rest of America's enemies.
