Read what one author and columnist thinks about people who complain about being misquoted by the mainstream media. There’s a good discussion going on in the comments section pretty much ripping the column to shreds.
In an time where mistrust of journalists is very high, the last thing you want to broadcast is that it’s ok for journalists to misquote someone, and that journalism is based on ’storytelling.’ News outlets need to get back to reporting and uncovering news, not creating it.

What nonsense…here’s the worst part of her column:
The military academies have a very clear definition of lying. If you say something to convey a false impression, either by leaving out pertinent facts, or by quibbling about words (for example, what the word “is” means), then you’re lying.
But then, those standards are part of an honor code. Honor, as in honest. And this miserable excuse for a reporter fails the honesty test badly.
Except is it mildly amusing to hear one of them, while defending lying, admit that our journalists are prone to do it.
Basically, “I’m spinning it because I want to. It’s a journalist’s job!”
Reporters and Liberals are liars by trade because if they told the truth, they wouldn’t have their jobs or power.
GWR, how DARE you mention honor and journalists in the same comment.
