Thursday night salute to manliness

Heheh. I love this photo, sent to me as part of a collage of photos, from ST reader Lorica:

Here’s one I’m sure the male readers of this blog will really dig:

This one set my heart a’flutterin’:

  1. Despair’s stuff is good, but none of the ones shown here come from it.

I used to use some of Despair’s “Unsuccessories” during lunch breaks in full-day seminars I delivered. They always got a good laugh. :d

  2. I think they are from there, GWS. If you go here, you can make your own ‘motivational’ images.

Lorica is just much better at it :). USMC supporting your right to die for your country. HA!

  3. Kevin, that’s a great site.

Somewhere around the net is a page full of those posters made on themes related to role-playing games. I’m proud to have contributed a few of the ones that “made the cut”. That’s a great site to play around with, especially if you find some really good pictures.

  4. I have a Despair coffee mug. It’s clear glass, has a line half way up it and letters that say “The glass is now officially half empty.” Love their stuff. The guys’ podcasts are funny as can be too.

  5. Sev!!! Great minds really do think alike!!

I have the same mug. Got it a few years ago with one of their posters that annoys management and is particularly relevant to my work:

If you’re not part of the solution, there’s good money to be made in prolonging the problem.

  6. Yeah GWR, that’s a great poster, and one that I harass my consultant wife with (she completely agrees with the sentiment). I have the “Idiocy – Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups” up behind my desk at work, although my boss didn’t react well to my suggestion we put the “Meetings – none of us is as dumb as all of us” up in the conference room. :d

From my chemistry days I have a neat T-shirt, If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the precipitate.

  7. These are funny, I love the “Blame” poster. Honestly tho, I was forwarded these from someone here at work. You know when you work in Army Accounting, you get all sorts of fun stuff, sadly no one has given me an Abrahms to test drive yet. Maybe for my 10th anniversary. :D – Lorica

  8. OMG those posters are are hilarious. I think those guys must of worked for the Government. =)) I absolutely must order some for my cubical. =)) – Lorica

  9. I actually did have to take down the Leaders poster when some honchos from the HQ office in CA were visiting. They have no sense of humor…

“Leaders – Leaders are like eagles. We don’t have either of them here.”

I still have it somewhere. I’m thinking of wrapping it up and donating it to the Democratic National Committee. They can put it up in their lobby. :d

  10. On a totally serious note, and related to Lorica’s USMC poster, comes this commentary from today’s Philadelphia Inquirer about a local Gold Star father who completely understands the stakes in the WOT.

One of him is worth a thousand Cindy Sheehans.
