I know a woman whose son is going to Iraq this month and she could have written this. She wanted her son to join the military because he could retire early, get a lot of benefits and go to school to become an interpreter for the government. The fact that might he have to actually go to war strikes her as an extreme indignity.

She thinks the government had Tilman murdered and she thinks that the war in Iraq is all about money. It occurred to me during her rant that considering the fact she encouraged her son to join the military because he could benefit from it financially and now she is upset he might have to fight, that maybe the government was not the only ones out to make a buck.

I understand that she is afraid for her son. I get that and I think it makes people a little crazy when they contemplate what can happen to someone they love when they go to a place like Iraq, but that does not make it ok to go bat s*** crazy and concoct all sorts of stuff about the military and the mission and God knows what else.

After all, if your son joins the military, he becomes one of them, so you might want to be careful about what you say.

Hi Sister T-I guess 'don't sweat the small minds'.
;)
Even when we get sick of hearing the Left yammer on as if they are actually "THE" arbiters of right and wrong,
if we don't answer them once in a while they think they have 'won'. This Hart Williams guy obviously has issues with the world as it is. Amazingly, he sounds like every other Lib who ever assured himself that his opinion constitutes Reality. If he believes it, that is the way it is. What a sad case.

Or are you still laboring under the delusion that we're "spreading democracy" and that endangering MY son because you don't have an exit strategy, refuse to discuss an exit strategy, and would rather be right and watch more of our soldiers die than admit that this war has been a disaster and end it?

Oh the problems with this paragraph.

1) We have already "spread democracy" as evidenced by three free elections and the first popularly-ratified Constitution in the Arab world. It's not perfect by any means, but it is, in fact, a democracy.

2) We do have an "exit strategy". It's called "winning". We're not the ones dreading a positive report from the commanding General in Iraq because it will cause us political problems.

One of the biggest affirmations of my departure from the Dem party was the Wellstone Memorial. Some of the few people who truly wanted to honor Sen. Paul Wellstone were his Republican collegues, and they were boo'd out of the arena. On that day, I realized that these people care little for anyone's ideas except their own. They only care for what is good for their agenda, and there is no depth to low, no scheme to coniving, no propaganda to false. To often it is only hate that burns in their hearts, and I will never have a part of it again. So let them listen to their propaganda, these days they deceive only themselves. - Lorica
