[...] Global warming is a hoax, perpetrated by communists and egomaniacs, believed only by those with anthropogenic hubris barely confined in their pea-sized brains. The global warming computer programs with their dire predictions are based on manipulated data such as the NASA data. No doubt there will be more and more such discoveries as their conclusions are scrutinized. And the true believers are already screaming foul. Newsweak ran an article attacking the individuals who unmask the phony science, rather than their arguments. A typical tactic when science is not the foundation of the discussion, attacking the messenger may seem gratifying to Newsweak but is hardly convincing. The problem is Newsweek presents a conspiracy theory that isn’t supported by fact. The Global Warming skeptics are outfunded by orders of magnitude. And as Cassandra says, there are so very many skeptics being paid. Sister Toldjah has more on the money spent spreading the myth about anthropogenic warming. The money on the chicken little side of the argument dwarfs the skeptics, which is the only explanation for how this myth gained legs in the first place. [...]

"....every scientist has to make a decision as to whether to be honest or effective."

- The same old Marxist "end justifies the means" creedo redux.

- However I don't believe Ill-Liberal progressivism is the driving force in GW. They just grab onto it since it can be mined for anti-BushCo. rehtoric. I'd guess that most SecProg yuppies are too busy checking their pulse after a 2K run, or swilling bottles of pierre' water to give a damn about the issue, beyond having to breathe in toxic fumes or the effects of high traffic volume on their property values. Most of the local squirmishes in terms of societal issues that they activate against generally lead enexorably back to great efforts to increase the resale value of their condo's and town houses.

- The money trail tends to support the idea that the whole panalope of dead baby alarmism, similar to the techniques once used to sell car seats, is a sort of rising anti-establishment, establishment.

- To wit. Out here in California a huge cottage, and not so cottage, industry has sprung up over the past 25 years in the area of alternate energy. Solar panel based electrical, rock bed storage systems, back up power grids for blocks of business properties, ect. In the main, other than a certain freedom from the normal state and local provided services, most of these systems are a push when it comes to real economies, and even at that can take years of use before benefits are actually realized. Overall they have very little effect on the larger part of the power grid, since all of the same costs are pepetually incurred anyway. Sort of an all or nothing problem. But the companies that are in the field benefit greatly.

- As usual for its part, the Governments input to all of this is spotty at best. But for those whos basic ideology lays in the idea that government is a viable concept in the area of social engineering, none of the vast pile of disasters or factually proven record of ineptitudes will disway their exuberance. Apparently, once you embrace nannystatism, you are forever doomed to looking for a free lunch.

- For anyone that may be still laboring under this perniscious delusion, consider the following.

- All that money, all those experts and politicians, all this time, and still the bridges fall down. This in spite of the fact that nothng about bridges is functionally problematic. Bridges, all structures for that natter, are right there for their examination, right down to the atomic level if need be. There is no magic envolved, nor are crystal balls neccessary. Its all very cut and dry, and absolutely controllable. and yet they fall down. There is no fathomable reason, save Governmental screw ups, economical shortcuts, and indifference.

- This is why the whole SecProg trope is fatally flawed. More Governement involvement? Maybe if you have a societal death wish, otherwise I don't think so.

I'd love to find out the name of the doctor who did the autopsy on the Earth and declared her demise due to global warming. Maybe we can put a sticker on every item that has anything remotely to do with petroleum products so that people know that they're killing the Earth by buying evil things like gasoline and plastic lunchboxes?

Ah, it's too close to the truth for comfort. It will end up like smoking, we're going to get taxed out every possible orifice for the 'scientific consensus' of Global Warming. Get ready for it.

Gallileo would be very familiar with this type of "science." He almost got burned at the stake for challenging it.

Well, of course, Sev. Galileo and Copernicus were deniers, despite all the scientific "evidence" of a geocentric universe. By the way, from all I've read, they peer-reviewed the hell out of that "evidence" too.

Richard Feynman is one of my true heroes. A smarter, more anti-BS man you're unlikely to find, and we miss his input and antics at times like this.

Why, GWR, don't you know the drill? Sure, we were wrong about Global Cooling, but that doesn't matter, there are more people now supporting Global Warming, so it has to be right! What that means is that unlike the 70's when Global Cooling was all the rage, now the nutcases and sycophants have figured out how to use Global Warming to get funding from the governments and NGOs of the world, and that climate change can be used to invoke "social justice" changes to punish the rich and successful of the world.

When CO2 driven global warming was just proposed as an hypothesis, it wasn't a bad hypothesis, temps and CO2 were rising, and initial data from ice cores showed similar behavior in the distant past. Unfortunately, it got picked up by political and social engineering types as a convenient tool to get what they wanted, so when further science, more accurate science, pointed out the flaws in CO2 driven global warming it was too late, the system would not accept any contrary information as it was no longer science. Higher resolution of the ice cores showed that CO2 lagged temperature, but that's an inconvenient truth to the AGW moguls. As are all the other issues which show CO2 to have a minimal effect on temperature.

Another irony in this hit piece: this is the same Newsweek that famously moaned about impending global cooling some 32 years ago.

And as recently as last October, they published an article about how uncertain the science surrounding global warming is: Remember Global Cooling? Why scientists find climate change so hard to predict.

So I guess we're supposed to conclude that the evil oil companies paid off that reporter last year, right?

The lack of evidence that GW is caused by humans is substantial, psycho, and nothing frauds on the left can make up will change that.

Just came over from a TalkLeft site that claims that Gore won in 2000 & we are all experiencing an illusion since then. Mass Psychosis on the left just keeps on & the MSM has a hard time keeping up with the delusions & hallucinations over there in the fever swamps.

The NYT took a poll last week and when it came out "counterintuitive" the commissars decided to take another poll, which repeated the first. The stymied Politburo at the NYT decided that they would actually publish the results of the second poll. Fancy that!

You are a total package of delirious nonsense about AGW, and no number of so-called "scientists" fighting for big money from totalitarian-wannabes will change the science.

Read Richard Feynman in "Cargo Cult Science" to see a Nobel laureate who foresaw frauds and imposters like the AGW Newsweak mafia.

Sev says:

Increasingly, the subject of global warming has become a litmus test as to whether or not a person should be viewed as an intelligent, rational person or an ideologically blinded fool

That's true - but it's more than that. It's also a litmus test for funding. You want that grant from a left-wing foundation? You'd better come up with data that supports AGW. The 250K grant from the Heinz Foundation is only the tip of the iceberg. And this iceberg is not melting - it's getting bigger.

Any scientist worthy of the name will counter criticism by recounting data, observations, detailed experimental procedures, and statistical analysis to back up his or her conclusions. The fact that the AGW alarmists do none of this reflects poorly on their methodology and research.

Finally, consider this: Albert Einstein might have been the greatest scientific mind of the last century. His findings about relativity are, to this day, considered a theory - not established fact. Al Gore is a political hack who got a D in natural sciences in college . But his ideas about global warming are considered to be established fact, not theory, by the AGW acolytes.

When you give the Goracle more credence than you're willing to give Einstein, you've forfeited any scientific credibility.

Increasingly, the subject of global warming has become a litmus test as to whether or not a person should be viewed as an intelligent, rational person or an ideologically blinded fool who's opinion on everything should be suspect. If you take a person and show them the "skeptics" side, including references, arguments, and what's wrong with the "consensus" how do they react? If they see the merit in the skeptics side, or even if they are not sure but admit it is not as settled as Al Bore says, they may be worth debating with or discussing other subjects with. If they slam back with the usual "it's settled" "Big Oil paid for you" and other BS, ad hominem attacks, then they are truly an idiot and their opinions about every thing else are so suspect as to be worthless, as they have shown themselves to be credulous, gullible fools with not enough judgment or skepticism to keep themselves from being led around like sheep.
