How about if Democrats stopped excusing the errors of Democrats because “the other guys are worse” and Republicans stopped excusing the errors of Republicans because “the other guys are worse,” and we all kicked any arse that needed it regardless of party affiliation?

Considering the consitently low opinion Americans hold for congress, setting a new record in unpopularity is quite an accomplishment. It’s like being voted the dorkiest kid at math camp.

Reid and Pelosi deserve most of the credit for achieving this record. If it gets any lower Mr. Greenwald can claim some credit for encouraging them to dig themselves in deeper.

You don’t understand ST – we want folks like Sock Puppet Master Greenwald to demand even more hyper-partisanship from Democrats. Pelosi and Reid are steering their party off of a cliff. We want them to put the pedal-to-the-metal and take as many of their colleagues as possible with them.

They’re unpopular because they assumed that their narrow margins of majority were tantimount to a mandate from the American people. They also assumed that those blue dog democrats would then march in lockstep to Pelosi and Reid’s orders, not taking into account how liberal or conservative that district or state really is. They also assumed that Bush would roll over and play dead on Iraq etc…

They assume too much and think too little.

- So much for Pelosi’s promise to “drain the swamp”, and clean house in the first “100 hours”. If it weren’t for the flood of investigating committees, pitifully useless efforts to censure the usual suspects, snd floating bills that even the Dems themselves didn’t vote for or want, the Dems would have been essentially invisible since they took “control”.

- If they can’t get it in gear when Congress reconvienes leading up the to Pres. Election cycle, its just more grist for the Reps to hammer them about. Their 2006 “victory” may turn out to be a poisoned rose.
