Leaving Lebanon was a mistake, no doubt. I also seem to recall that the hostages were released as soon as Reagan was elected. That probably wasn't because they were a fan of his acting, but more that they knew he was no Jimmy Carter (talk about leaving reality behind). I also seem to recall the limited airstrikes against Libya that basically stopped it from continuing to support terrorist actions against U.S. and it's allies that had killed numerous people. Or we could fire millions of dollars worth of cruise missles at empty tents ala Bill Clinton and accomplish absolutely nothing. And we all know what road that led to. Ignoring threats does not make them go away.
