I think God wants YOU to help the poor, not your taxes. Paying taxes is an easy way for most to ignore the poor, yet feel good about themselves. It really makes no logical sense, until you realize that taxes are a control issue, and you fall for it everytime. The Founding Fathers wanted government out of your private papers. The government snuck in while we were blinded by the argument that They, the government, can better provide for the poor than anyone else. Well that argument has proven to be flat out wrong, time and time again. I want to know, at what point in time has this country had it's poor dying in the streets in mass?? The answer would be never, but the more people rely on the government the more that scenerio is going to be an eventuality. What is going to happen if or when this government fails??? Most likely the Christians are going to start opening their doors to the poor again, just like we did in the 1930s or the 1880s or ..... pick the date prior to the government intervention programs.
