Thank you Steve for reminding me of something. I refuse to listen to people who have no ethical standard, sit in judgment of a people who do. When the left in this country gives up the live and let live attitude over everything wrong in this country, then I will start to listen to their opinion. How can people who defend every wrong under the sun, now tell me that same thing is wrong?? Ohhhhh it’s the hypocrasy they say. Well what about their defense of Bill Clinton the only US President found guilty of Perjury. Ohhhh that’s just about sex, but lying about sex isn’t hypocrasy?? Telling the American people that he didn’t have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinski, then coming back with I had an inappropriate relationship 6 months later isn’t hypocrasy??? Please lefties, you all are obsessed with power, don’t kid yourselves, and you will do whatever it takes to keep power. My hope is that the American People see you for what you are. – Lorica

Looks as if Sev and Lorica have already covered the ground I was going to, so I’ll just content myself by observing that Craig’s real “sin” was in acting like a Democrat while being a Republican. He really should change party affiliations, I’d pay money just to see the whiplash on the left as everyone does a screeching 180 to come ot his defense. Victimless crimes! Entrapment! Homophobia! Will somebody please think of the chiiiiiildren!!!!

As for me, I have no problem holding my side to a higher standard of ethics and behavior. It is a tactical disadvantage, but at least we don’t have to associate with the likes of the Kennedys and Clintons.

This is unbelieveable. I realize these Senators have massive egos, but surely Craig must realize the position he is in and how voters in his state would perceive any attempt to change his mind about resigning.

And speaking of massive egos, what really galls me is Arlen Specter stirring this hornets nest on Fox News Sunday.

Haven’t we done enough to help Arlen keep his job and this is yet another way he thanks us?

Leave office Craig and let the good people of Idaho get another Republican to represent them whose conduct won’t be an embarrasment.

I agree Dear. The time for the fight is over with. When he pleaded guilty to hush the whole thing up, he convicted himself. Now he needs to just let it go, and be satisfied with a job well done. Also the Republican Party in Idaho should tell him it is time to retire. I hope he makes the right decision and just retires, before he pushes people to vote for the Dem candidate. – Lorica

And that is why the whole tree is rotten Sev. I have said this once, I will say this again, as long as this type of leadership is in place over the Dem party, I will never ever vote Dem again. I feel it is completely useless to vote for “A Good Dem” when the leadership of the party is so utterly corrupted. Even to the point where the most vocal of their own party are screaming to get rid of these same “Good Dems”. My prayer is that these conservative Dems, start to convert to the Republican party, bring with them stories about how nuts the Dem party leadership is. – Lorica

I can’t remember where I read it, but someone had an excellent idea. What if Craig, at his press conference, instead of saying he was going to step down, announced he was changing party affiliation to the Democrats?

He made the guilty plea hoping to keep it out of public view. Now that it has come out it makes sense to fight it, as he can not do himself much more damage, and the way his party turned on him relieves him of any duty of loyalty to them. If the people of Idaho what to be represented by some one else they can recall him. It is not up to the senate republicans to decide.

Regardless of what did or didn’t happen in the men’s room, he is guilty of poor judgement in waiving his right to counsel, and pleading guilty to a charge he now wants to contest. Let the people of Idaho be represented by a Senator who is not distracted by personal legal problems.

I think we’re seeing a pattern here. First, Craig did something in an airport bathroom which a police officer perceived to be an invitation for sex. When accosted by the officer, Craig vehemently denied doing any such thing, but when he had to make a declaration for the court as to whether he had done it or not, he pled “guilty.” Now, he says that he will “fight” his “guilty” plea.

The same thing is happening with his “resignation.” First, he says with cameras rolling that he will resign from the Senate. Now, there are reports that he is “reconsidering” a resignation.

I don’t know what his voting record has been like, but he sure has done a lot of flip-flopping the past few months.
