I'm a sub teacher in Ala. and our kids wear flag apparrel everyday. We start each day with a 2 minute moment of silence, stand, and say the pledge, and I mean they say it, they are in high school and most of the kids do say it, makes me feel good. The flag shirts are displayed on a daily basis here, and the overflow of Mexican kids where stuff with their stuff on em and there has NEVER been a fight over that. There a so many coaches roaming the hall and lunchroom that if a fight started they'd only get one punch in and our fights are always over a boy or girfriend. If the aclu was a stand up organization, they step into NC and tell this school thay can't keep these kids from using THEIR FREEDMOM OF SPEECH. They defend everyone else from rappers to pornographers on this lame issue so why not a noble cause like our FLAG. There are also specific rules on the raising, lowering, and maintainance, as well as disposal for age or damamge. Apparently the school officials missed some key classes in civics, and should be required to take a refresher course. Wearing apparel is a different matter, wherein schools do have the right to manage dress codes for group control purposes, which I can understand.
