I guess Edwards got used to a jury buying into his shtick and has little clue of how ludicrous he sounds.

John Edwards and his speeches – the gift that keeps on giving. Well, he is a trial lawyer first and foremost.

Newt would stir things up, that’s for sure. I think he really wants to run but wants positive assurances from ‘the people’ before he jumps in. I think that’s why he frames it as more of a calling than a passion. I think he’s waited too long, though.
