This whole business is surrealistic. I don't know why Congress has decided to waste more time on yet another meaningless resolution. If the legislative branch has no interest in actually enacting legislation, perhaps they should take up another of their constitutional duties and discuss the issuing of "letters of marque and reprisal." That could at least provide some amusement and might increase the ratings for CSPAN.

To Banjo,

I agree with you. I think the Turks, none of whom now alive had anything to do with this massacre, simply ought to apologize and move on. And yes, the Turks are not exactly what I would call an ally. I'd add, too, that I am puzzled why the Turks would be acting so snarky precisely when they want to enter the EU.

The thing I haven't heard in this whole mess, why is this even coming up now? What is the expected upside by the dims bringing this up for vote or for that matter, discussion? The only plausible explanation, they are trying to undermine the Iraq war to hurt the President and Republicans.

Oh, and does anyone remember the Turks -- our "loyal ally" -- refused permission to allow our troops and aircraft to use Turkey's territory when war began with Saddam? With allies like that, why not called North Korea one.

Uh, why don't the Turks just accept the fact the Ottoman Empire slaughtered millions and say it didn't happen on their watch? If nothing else, Bill Clinton has shown how effective it is to bite the lower lip to show emotion, and then say "it's time to move on."

- Madam Speaker "The trouble with Nancy" Pelosi has her hands full with the loyal idiot opposition camped out in her front yard.

- By the by, one of the reasons this fails is several of the Dems in Congress, whom just happen to have sizable Turkish trade agreements back home in their constituency, have come out loudly against her and the resolution. Funny how that works.

It makes perfect sense, they sabotage relations with one of our allies and they can still blame Bush for our lowly "standing among the world".

They couldn't care less about the Iraqis or Armenians they only care about getting more power, and it's only going to get worse as we draw closer to the election.
