Louisianans were fed up with Democrat ‘leadership’ in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and elected a Republican to see if he could do any better. That’s not to take anything away from Jindal’s victory and the excitement it has generated, but I suspect the fact alone that he was not a Democrat was a considerable factor in him getting elected, moreso than his conservative credentials.

I think the voters simply liked with Jindal had to say. He won w/o a runoff. Apparently that doesn’t often happen down there.

Again, I doubt buyer’s remorse (the latest fad phrase anyway, and it’s time it were dropped) had all that much to do with it.

The people wanted an intelligent innovative governor, and it sounds like they got one.
