And what do we see on Drudge this morning? As expected, a link to Dirty Harry Reid saying that the fires are more proof of global warming. As expected, blame the cause de jour and ignore the effects of the greenies and their hamstringing of efforts to thin the brush and forests, that is to deal with the direct cause of these kinds of catastrophes. Idiots, and dangerous ones at that.

I had occaision to drive through southern Oregon shortly after the bad summer there. Near Medford, there was a billboard sarcastically “thanking” the Sierra Club for its contribution to half a million acres burned.

Without reading Michelle’s link yet, environmental obstructionism will be at the base of most wildfires. Forest management in general is a misnomer, akin to calling one of the seas gentlest marine creatures, Killer Whales. The actual practice of sound methods and policies regarding the Federal and State agencies, who at one time were charged with the stewardship of “Forest Lands”, has devolved thanks to and in no small part, because of the popular misconceptions that plague the modern day enviro-terrorist or is that enviro-insurgent.

After a half century of debilitative methods, the negative results of mismanagement continue to spawn an ever increasing frequency of what are seen to often as, unavoidable incidents/wildfires. To be sure, many are in fact slated to occur during what has been known historically, as fire season. Yet, while the causes are not entirely preventable, the circumstances which lead to “wild fires” can be dealt with far more effectively than what the nonsensical contributions stemming from the clueless “greenies” claim.

How convenient! I question the timing! Did you know that no Jooooos were burned in the fires? Wonder why?

And what’s with these fires, anyway? Everyone knows fire won’t burn wood, it- huh? What? Oh.

Ahem… so who gets the single source contract to fight these so called “fires,” anyway? More lucrative deals for Bush and Cheney’s cronies, right? It’s time we stop throwing money at this quagmire and bring the fire fighters home! Impeach Bush! No blood for fire!
