By the way: In the postseason, the umpire crew chief, in this case Ed Montague, has to consult with the Commissioner’s office, through ump. supervisor Steve Palermo, before he can order the tarp to come out. I mean, Ed’s only been doing this for a mere 32 years, so how could he possibly have the experience to know when to put the tarp out?

Note, too, that this year the series starts Wednesdays, with off days on Fridays (when viewership is low) and Tuesday. Curiously, they’ll be up against Monday Night Football if there’s a game five, although there is no football game Sunday night.

Why? On Mondays Fox has the new, and low-rated, “K Ville” and the declining “Prison Break.” On Tuesdays, it’s “Bones” and “House,” their two top-rated shows during the non-”Idol” portion of their broadcasting schedule.

(Aside to “Bones” fans–according to the promo I saw, it’s a Halloween episode on Tuesday–Brennan’s in a Wonder Woman costume in the promo.)

Harvey should have pitched Haas instead of Caldwell on 3 days rest for game 6 of the 82 series.

Selig killed the Brew Crew by firing Harvey and not signing people because they cost too much.

Hey MD! I would have liked to have seen the Cubs in the series this year, simply due to the fact that I have so many friends who are long-suffering Cubs fans.

WAY off-topic: I am reading When Chicago Ruled Baseball. It is the story of the 1906 Cubs-White Sox World Series. Very enjoyable – except for the ending!

After 4 complete, it’s 6-1 Sox. 3, er, 2 outs until this becomes an official game, unless the Rockies can come up with at least 5 runs.
