An open letter to Bono

Posted by: ST on November 17, 2007 at 6:36 pm

Dearest Bono,

Dude, I’m a big fan of U2′s – of you, especially. So when I read what you said in Rolling Stone about Bill Clinton and Al Qaeda, this is the first thought that came to my mind:

Man, please shut up.

Sincerely,
–ST

Great article. It proves, once again. that Hollywood and the music industry have absolutely no clue as to what goes on in the real world.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger group of over-pampered, over-paid, out of touch, arrogant, ignorant, personalities in my life.

Some of these entertainment personalities make Marie Antoinette seem tuned in to reality by comparison.

..and people think we’re just being silly when we say things like, “Liberals get their ‘news’ from things like The Daily Show.”

Wow, you just can’t make this stuff up.

  4. Leslie says:

Yes, Bono, please shut up . . . and lose those stupid glasses.

    :((

This is so disappointing. My Buddy that I blog with and I are huge U2 fans and we were just talking last week about how Bono and all the good he does for the less fortunate. Even with liberal stance, is very reasonable about his views.

We have always gave Bono a pass on the Hollywood tripe that’s spewed out daily. Unfortunately this is the last thing I wanted to hear. Talk to Al-Qaeda and Bill Clinton is a genius….

There is no diifference in the thought process of talking to Al-Qaeda as there is in talking to murderers or child molesters to try and cure them or figure out how and why they think the way they do.

Al-Qaeda sawed off the heads of our people with virtually a butter knife. They killed and mutilated our soldiers… What else do we need to talk about??

Sorry Bono, but as you sing “I can’t believe the news to today. I can’t wipe my eyes and make it go away”…. You have lumped yourself in with the fodder and the sheep….

Taking the path of least resistance and living in the “now” rather than thinking of our future is the wrong way and dangerous way of thinking. It’s so obvious to see in my world…

Hated Hated Hated to hear this from Bono…

    Thx Lt. Listener

Just like any other hippie this jerk thinks he can “change the world”. He has a pulpit. He has the media. He has absolutely NO common sense. And he still hasn’t found what he’s looking for.:o)

Well said, Lt. Have some people forgotten the lessons of WW II already? I realize it wasn’t yesterday but we’re not talking about something hundreds of years ago. Appeasing aggression does NOT solve the problem. Bonos ideas of dealing with Al Qaeda are akin to Chamberlins solution for dealing with Hitler.

To achieve peace, BOTH parties have to be interested in attaining that peace.

  8. Great White Rat says:

These celebri-twits could learn a lesson from the 21-year old drummer for the Arctic Monkeys, who has his head screwed on straight. Asked to comment on Global Warming, he didn’t regurgitate the usual leftist bilge. Instead he said:

It’s a bit patronizing for us 21 year olds to try to start to change the world.” Further on, he stated “Especially when we’re using enough power for 10 houses just for lighting. It’d be a bit hypocritical.”

And further, talking about the tendency of rock musicians to present themselves as some type of experts on non-musical matters, he said:

it’s like ‘who cares what we think about what’s happening’? There’s more important people who can have an opinion. Why does it make us have an opinion because we’re in a band?

Money quote, from the author of the piece:

Allow me to state what should be the bloody obvious: Because someone is famous, or even infamous, does not automatically mean it will cash out in wisdom at the end of the day. In fact, it usually means you have kissed the right backsides, or have the right look.

There’s one man in a band with more brains than Bono, Springsteen and the rest of these mush-brains put together.
