On the no-spanking law -- I'm just shaking my head trying to come up with an expression of my disgust. This is such a foolish and bad idea on so many levels. First off, there are already laws against physical (and emotional etc.) child abuse -- parents who are using the excuse of "spanking" to beat their kids to a pulp are already covered, thanks. Second, how on earth do they plan to enforce this? Have neighbors inform on each other? Kids inform on their parents? (Didn't anyone read 1984?) Third -- oh joy! More bureaucracy to enrich my daily life! Anyone else think that, instead of making these stupid and specious laws that infringe on parental duties and boundaries, MA should spend more time . . . making sure they're not releasing known killers? 'Cause when those killers kill again, it kinda gives us a bad name . . .
