After cutting down a fresh tree each year for over thirty years we finally broke down and bought a fake. Never thought that would happen. For the past few years our real trees were crooked, not very attractive and last year when one fell over with family heirloom ornaments breaking we said ENOUGH!

Bought one for 40% off at Hobby Lobby. 9′ tall and a real beauty too. Problem was that the lights wired into it were not all operative. Taking it back for an exchange tomorrow.

It has turned out to be more work than cutting a real one down. Yeah, this is my real Griswold Christmas allright. The work of decorating at Christmas is not easy no matter how hard I try.

The Moose out front should have told me.

There’s a lot to be said for three foot trees, with decorative small, snow laden villages underneath (including a tiny skating pond (think ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’). Teeny tiny fibre optic lights wink on and off in harmony. And traditional Christmas music playing softly on the BOSE. Merry Christmas, mistress!

Two things about this amazing performance by a 7 year old boy. One was his phenomenal singing ability and the other is the Hussein Obama- like unrest in the background.
