If the GOP runs an aggressive campaign that holds Pelosi and the Democrats responsible for the mess they created this past year (and that is a huge "if"), they will easily make gains. Democrats are in a far weaker position that the MSM would like for you to believe. Crunch time for the Democrats will come in 2010 when (as I expect) there is a Democrat president to go along with a Democrat Congress. Given the complete failure of the current Congress, giving Democrats control of the Executive branch will create such a severe case of buyer's remorse among voters that today's microscopic poll numbers for Congress will look positively astronomical. You could see a huge wipeout of Democrats that would dwarf 1994. But all this depends upon Republicans holding Democrats responsible - something they have been loath to do in recent years.
