On the other hand, once you get clear of the MSM, there are some wonderful things happening in Iraq.

In the same vein as NC Cop's link a few threads back, the irreplacable Michael Yon posts this thank you note from Iraq.

You'll find no obsessing over how bad things could be. It's a must-read. It'll renew your pride in our troops and our country.

Even with good news like this, there's the predictable doom-and-gloom spin from the left-wing MSM.

Go back and re-read the text ST quoted above. The first eight paragraphs emphasize bombings, violence, and instability. From reading that, you'd never know the progress made in Iraq in the past year. It isn't until paragraph 9 ("But the number of attacks in Iraq in general has fallen dramatically..") that the writer grudgingly admits that things are getting better, and there are plenty of good signs. Talk about burying the lede.

Reminds me of the headline in the leftist McClatchy newspapers a few months ago: "As violence falls in Iraq, cemetery workers feel the pinch".
