Bhutto will be sorely missed by the UN administration and those government “leaders” on the African continent whose corruption, in comparison to hers, seemed almost benign. ;o/

Still, and again in comparison to many other leaders of nations similar to Pakistan, Bhutto was a breath of fresh air, though not necessarily one out of the Western mold (and again — that’s not a necessity).

She didn’t deserve to go out that way. Here’s hoping her death tips the scales hard against the Islam-o-Whackjob factions.

P.S. — I’ll take the low road here, and claim that Rosie O’Donnell could find Rawalpindi on a map, if you coated it with milk chocolate…

Les, I’m pathetically short on ’sources’ lately (owing to death, retirement, and ordinary reassignments). So all I can do in this case is presume the common sense approach. Namely that India’s various security and military elements are likely on an ultra-heightened state of alert.

West will NEVER EVER understand the mindset of south asian’s just the south asian will never figure out the west.

It is not in analysis..It was the work of Musharaf and you think he is with the west..go dream..he is playing both ways..he is with taliban, al-quida and with the west when it suits him..the man is just trying to survive his last days and he is most dangerous at this moment…we hope after west incite mush..he does not leak nukes to the talibans.

I caught this at Black Five, but then ended up at Think Progress - one of the Google News links on this event - and was surprised, but not much, to see GWB castigated in the comments. Ugly, but the usual, I suppose. Pakistan is in for more chaos.

Bhutto, for all her faults, comes across with more positives on balance. In comparison to the cowardly vermin who murdered her and many others she’s positively heroic.

But what saddens me more than the knowledge that there are vermin busily gnawing at the underpinnings of civilization is the realization that there are many, many people on our side, ostensibly anyway, who are more than happy to let them do it.

I eagerly await Rosie O’Donnel’s verdict on what we must do to head off the threat these radical Christian fundamentalists pose.

It was a matter of time before the jihadists succeeded in killing Bhutto. It was one of my fears upon her return to Pakistan, and within hours of her arriving back in her country, her convoy came under attack, with more than 100 killed.

The sh*t figures to be hitting the fan in Pakistan. Hard to say how far it might go. Anywhere from increased violence all the way to full blown civil war. India’s got to be very nervous about this. Bhutto’s murder saddens me, but it was also very predictable.
