The Iranians got too close. They could have launched lots of different weapons at our boats from there. Ammo is cheap. If they do it again, we need to defend our lawful space before they get anywhere near that close. We would look like inept idiots if they got a shot off at us. One 5″ shell for each boat or let the R2D2 have em. You know W has given the skipper of our ships the go ahead if they try it again. I bet the Iranians are too chicken though.

My niece was a Gunner’s Mate on a LSD in the Gulf. Her battle station was a Ma Deuce. The gun was longer than she is tall, but she can hit what she aims at. Anyone for a serving of swiss cheese raghead?

Reported that some came within 200 yds of our vessels…..This never should have been allowed. Scary that they could achieve this. Let’s hope they light them up if it happens again…from at least a 1/2 mile away.

All USN warships carry 25mm chain guns, which would shred these little Pasdaran speedboats. I can imagine the calculus going on in the minds of those US skippers, judging the last possible moment they should wait to open fire.

Why waste expensive 25mm ammo? A couple of .50 cal ma deuces would waste those boats and be less expensive. If it had been me commanding one of those ships, I would have ordered the gunners to open up anyway. That way the rags, would get a small lesson in what kind of firepower the USN has. I’ll bet that the rest of the mid east terrorist would sit up and take notice too, if that happened.

I probably would have failed that test, myself, and torn them up. Good thing I’m on the civilian side of the USN these days.

These “Gulf of Tonkin” morons have never been in a situation where they have to consider employing deadly force, I am guessing. They live entirely within the tidy little confines of their paranoid minds, where there are no contradictions and everything can be neatly resolved by questioning the timing and calling for Bush’s impeachment.

Well, GWB didn’t make the Iranians what they are today, and President Obama or Clinton is going to have to deal with the same whacknoodles. And guys like me are going to be on the tip of the spear (well, me, if I’m lucky, will be somewhat behind the tip, assuming that I’m not the one passing the Straits of Hormuz when it really blows up).
