I'm sensing a subtle movement toward agreement here, embodied by the bold statement that a cocaine snorting polypharmacy abusing male reveling in his bisexual performance might not be creating an "great family environment".

But wait! Could this be an attempt to shift responsibility to the sinister movie Batman? Unlike Brokeback with its cartoonish cast and simplistic message about working out everything in the end, Batman's vividly realistic portrayal of life in Gotham may have produced moral confusion and a descent into the pit of nihilism for an Ang Lee young man.

About the drugs: I don't know him. I don't know his relationships or his past. But yes, if this turns out to be true, it's not a great family environment. However have you been there? Do you know what happened? Have you seen the coroner's report? Maybe you can wait at least 10 days to give your 'holier than thou' speech?

As far as brokeback... IT'S A MOVIE. I'm sorry, but I don't expect a wave of gay infedility because of a movie (which no men went to see). Do you really think J.J. Abrahms supports Godzilla destroying New York because he directed Cloverfield? Acting is not immoral, it's playing an immoral character. There's a world of difference.

Oh, and of note, apparently in recent interviews he's been saying that the Joker character screwed with his psyche more than he expected... not brokeback.

How would I know anything about some guy dying with a rolled up $20 bill surrounded by a veritable pharmacy of drugs scattered about the room? How would I guess that he might not be a great father for a child? Is that really your question?

Rumor has it he made movies glorifying homosexuals who cheat on their wives. Maybe that impresses you; I find it fits right in to the Hollywood sewer scene which apparently claimed him as a victim.

His kid deserved better.

I had actually heard that he was going to give Nicholson a run for his money as the Joker.

Crockodile tear DaMav? At this point, how would you know anything about him or how moral/immoral or how good of a father he is?

I wasn't much interested in Heath Ledger at first... he was a playboy actor in teenager flicks (there's a whole slough of them better known for the appearance and fluff films than for substance). But heath ledger appeared to be aiming for more difficult movies, for more complicated parts, and becoming a better actor. I think it's always a loss when someone dies just as they are rising to their full potential.

You reap what you sow. The Hollywood promotion of immorality and alternative lifestyles claims another victim. It's sad for his daughter but it sounds like she didn't lose much of a father.

Absolutely tragic. Yet preventable.

I am looking forward to the new Batman movie, but it will almost seem bittersweet knowing that such a talent is gone now.

Very sad.
