It’s either restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega or tear down the racing surface and rebuild it with far less slope.  At the speeds today’s cars would generate (230+ MPH last time someone ran a few test laps at Talladega without one, which was three or four years ago), not only would the driver’s lives be in far more peril than they are now in the event of a wreck, the tires would disintegrate.  And Goodyear’s not about to build one that could handle it.&nbasp; As to the “there’s no stock in stock cars” argument, that ship sailed the first time Richard Petty rolled into Daytona with that 1969 Plymouth Superbird in tow.

SUPER BOWL 42 CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!

As soon as the game ended I went screaming and dancing into the street, only to look up and see another guy dancing in the street four houses up!!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

You couldn’t have written this season any better. Giants were underdogs throughout most of the season and every playoff game. Eli has made it and I am happy for him. I’ll be the first to admit I was one of his biggest critics, and Coughlins, but they have proven me wrong!!!!!!!

I’m going to get a t-shirt made up that says 18-1. Most people may not realize what it means but Giants fans will.

I love that story about the disabled vet that has been the Giants inspiration. He will also get a Super Bowl ring!!!!

Steveegg, take all of this with a grain of salt, I’m just having a little fun. NY fans haven’t had much to cheer about lately so it’s a GREAT feeling for us.

The best: Eli eludes Pat’s D, finds Tyree, who makes what Troy Aikman calls a basketball catch. In Giants lore this will now always be simply The Catch . . . wounded Plaxico Burris open in the end zone, Eli finds him . . . Giants 17, Pats 14 . . . Giants D in last 35 seconds, knocking Brady on his butt, and forcing him into Hail Mary Territory . . . Coach Coughlin running onto the field to call a t/o . . .

Buck and Aikman just about perfect . . . that Bud commercial with the doggie coaching the Clydesdale colt into the big time . . . Jordin Sparks nailing the anthem . . . Tom Petty sounding good . . . Strahan rooting the Giants’ offense down the field on that last drive, yelling and hollering . . . the officials swallowing their whistles (thank you, Mike Carey and crew, for not getting in the way of the game).

The worst: Bellichek, displaying his usual poor sportsmanship–running off the field before the symbolic last kneeldown . . . that car commercial with the grill in the guy’s bed . . . Danica Patrick! You’re an auto racer, get outta the gutter with godaddy.com and stick to your sport. Maybe some day you’ll actually win a race.

Jerry, Restrictor plates suck! Also, what they call stock cars aren’t. I want real stock cars from the 60s and 70s. I want to see cars race that you can buy in the showroom.

Sunday afternoons get a little boring once the season is over.

My dear ST. You really need to take advantage of your geographic location in this fine land of ours and join the NASCAR Nation.  You will never again be bored on Sunday afternoon.

I recommend you begin your journey by visiting Restrictor Plate This often.  We welcome the curious and those who have yet to embrace the skill, thrill, and drama of all things NASCAR.  And have a whole lot of good clean fun while doing so.

(As an additional benefit of watching the sport, I am oft informed that more than a few of the drivers in NASCAR are deemed not unattractive by a multitude of women possessing fine character and demanding taste.  I’ll defer to them on this matter, as despite my location in the area named after St. Francis of Assisi I don’t live that close to San Francisco!)
