Leslie said: It occurs to me that one thing you, and your colleagues who support McCain only reluctantly, should consider is that, for the most part, the voters are still concerned mostly about the war and the economy and, in some areas, illegal immigration.

Which is why McCain need to shut up about global warming, Big Pharma, and campaign finance reform, and instead emphasize winning in Iraq, the War on Terror, cutting government spending, securing the borders (which he has promised to do), and the ethical mess in Congress. The latter are winners with not only conservatives but also moderates and independents.

Baklava: Thanks for your information about the no. of GOP v. Dem. superdelegates. That is indeed a significant difference.

The Dem's have 20% Super Delegates compared to 6% in the Republican process.

That's a big margin that could give the non-winner the win.

ST:

I believe the GOP has superdelegates, too--not that it matters this time around. Anyway, if a party is going to have superdelegates, they have to have something to do. And anyway, it doesn't matter what I think any more. The MSM has decided they're bad, so, since as I've often said, while the party pros decide the GOP nominations in close contetsts, the MSM performs that function for the Democrats. In other words, "Hillary, the MSM has voted, and YOU are going home."
;)

MD: It occurs to me that one thing you, and your colleagues who support McCain only reluctantly, should consider is that, for the most part, the voters are still concerned mostly about the war and the economy and, in some areas, illegal immigration. Issues like restrictions on free speech in the name of campaign reform, while important to you (and I am not suggesting you shouldn't be concerned), simply do NOT resonate with most voters, and don't factor much in their decisions about who to vote for.

There is no disrespect for white women. Just Hillary, the marxist socialist know it all. And how about the way she and her husband ("the first black president") played the race card in SC? These were DEMOCRATS, not the supposed racist rep.

Ask a Rep who his favorite is and it is Reagan, ask who his next fav is and he will say Maggie Thatcher. And if Ann Coulter ran, she would have wide spread Rep support and gee, what would the dems (the party of the white woman) do to her? Huh?

McCain lost two of the three GOP contests today - to Huckabee, of all people. In fact, McCain's loss in Kansas was by a huge margin. Even in the "blue" state of Washington, according to the latest results McCain has nearly three-quarters voting against him. Where were all of the "moderates" the MSM claims will come out in droves to vote for McCain and "save" the GOP from itself?

As I have indicated before, I will vote for McCain in the fall simply because the alternative is vastly worse. But let's not kid ourselves - McCain is a very weak candidate, and that weakness is mostly self-inflicted (no conservative forced McCain to vote to restrict free speech in the name of "campaign finance reform, for example). Today's vote should be a loud wake-up call to his campaign that fear of Hilly the Hun or the Empty Suit is no substitute for a positive message.

I cannot help but snicker when I hear some McCain supporters dismiss conservative criticism of their candidate as "McCain Derangement Syndrome". If they think what Coulter and Limbaugh are saying is intolerable, wait until the fall when the MSM and their Democrat pets cast McCain as the Antichrist. Everything - including Charles Keating's shenanigans - will make an appearance in the campaign to defeat the soon-to-be ex-MSM darling.

Why so much disrespect for white women running for president in this country, wondering and pondering! any clue?

There isn't disrespect of any woman who runs for office, but those of us who have lived through the Clinton presidency, and know the facts behind Hillary, and the lies and deceptions that she is all about...well, it is not against ALL women...Just her or anyone who we have knowledge of that will be damaging to this country with thier socialist ideals and agendas.

I don't understand all this whining over what the super delegates will do. They're professional pols, and their mission should be to pick the candidate they think has the best chance of winning the general election. That's the point of having them.

All things considered, if it comes down to it, better for Nancy Pelosi to decide a close vote than some guy from the Virgin Islands.
