The media is always biased. To think otherwise is an exercise in self-deception. But, you do have to love Bill complaining, after all these many long and painful years of the media allowing Hillary to act the wicked witch, while treating her like the nice little Dorothy.

They have found a new idol to champion – a smoother than smooth talking, chocolate (thank you Mayor Nagin) Marxist to play pied piper to the masses of mice.

As both parties disintegrate at their cores, at least we have some real entertainment before the nation self-destructs.

Another example of why Republicans are generally tougher, they never get a chance to get used to the kind of fawning, obsequious coverage their Dem counterparts are spoiled with. No wonder the Dems can’t stand up to Fox, they might actually get asked a tough question rather than a soft ball.

In no particular order, this is what ole bubba’s whining is REALLY about:

- he’s not getting fawned over from the media in the manner to which he’s become accustomed. (This ain’t about Hillary, folks – that’s a smoke screen).

- Obama’s got all the momentum at the moment, while Hillary’s machine seems to have its gears locked from within. There’s a tendency for folks to want to be seen ‘on the winning side’ -and the media is not exempt from that desire.

- The MSM would sooner see a Republican elected than be accused of some form of racism in their coverage of the Obama campaign. So they’ll continue being extra nice in their coverage of the Obama-rama.

T-Steel, I am guessing you are more or less middle class, and not a product of the inner cities. My impression is that Black youth there are being told that conventional success is selling out, “being white.” Pro athletics, rap music, and selling drugs appear to be the exemplars of success provided Blacks in the inner cities. I’ll say this for Obama – while I find his politics execrable, he himself is not using race as his ticket, and is trying to sell himself as a person and not a token. As such he does not fit into the mold of the Jackson/Sharpton hustlers, extortionaists, and grievance mongers. In that regard he does represent something new and different in national politics, something long overdue. Sadly, many insist upon forcing him into a token role, and want his campaign to be about skin color.

As to the coverage going sour on the Clintons, I think to some extent it was inevitable, given the massive amount of negative material in the Clinton closet. The press was willing to overlook it for a long while, but like schoolyard bullies they will prey upon weakness, and now that Hillary has stumbled a few times, they smell blood in the water (to mix my metaphors).

It’s often been said that Americans love an underdog, but the media loves to kick one. If Hillary gets the nomination (still very likely, I think, given the Clintons’ present ownership of the mainstream Democratic Party), the media will be sucking up once again.

To tell you the truth, Senator Obama is the realization of what’s been told to black youth growing up: that you can be anything. And when I see him getting votes from a diverse electorate, I keep thinking of MJK Jr’s speech. It’s a difficult thing to wrestle with. We should have the best candidate for the job. I feel that Senator Obama is that person YET I can’t deny the strong emotional pull of him being SO close to the presidency. That’s why I spend most of my time on conservative/right blogs. I’m looking for that sharp criticism from the other side to make me look at Senator Obama under a harsher glare.

Look, I respect anyone’s right to criticize Senator Obama. He’s a grown man aiming for the most powerful position in the Free World. But I think that people should realize that many black folks look to Senator Obama as the realization of a dream. And trying the shake that loose is difficult to say the least.

As far as being labeled a racist for criticizing him, that sucks. I haven’t heard Senator Obama say that people are picking on him because he’s black BUT I do know some of his supporters say so. So I agree, those who scream racism because he’s being criticized are a bunch of jackasses and should be treated as such.

T-Steel, do you think he’s about to get negative coverage because he’s black or because so many people out there do view him as a modern day version of Robert Redford’s character in the movie “The Candidate”?

So far, it appears to be the people most obsessed with the O-man’s race are prominent Democrats … while Republicans hammer away on his skimpy record.

I expressed a concern way back when the Clintons were being (falsely) accused of racism for criticizing Barack Obama’s comparing himself to MLK/JKF that I could see where just about any criticism leveled at him if he made it to the general election would be blamed on “race.” I really, really hope that doesn’t happen, and that if it does, I hope he’s on the front lines denouncing such accusations, because people need to be able to feel like they can criticize him without automatically being accused of being a racist – this type of denounciation will be esp. important for him to make in the event he gets elected president.

I’m an Obama supporter and I even agree that MSM coverage of his has been, uh, well, ultra-positive. I’m just going to keep it real (I can do that on conservative blogs… liberal blogs are too busy fighting over each other’s candidates):

I feel that a sizable amount of Black folks, like me, feel that Senator Obama is about to get BLASTED in the media. And not in a positive way. See, alot of us are still saying, “America isn’t going to elect a black president” even though he’s making in roads with a diverse swath of the electorate. All this positive coverage makes us even more certain that he’s about to be destroyed.

By the way, that “Is Barack Obama the ‘Messiah’?” website is hilarious.
