Point well taken, ST. I think the face that the Patrick and Obama have the same advisor mitigates the borrowing somewhat, as not many candidates write all their own material. Obama definitely should have credited Governor Patrick in his remarks. But you’re 100% correct about the thin resume and that it isn’t the major issue we should look at before voting.

GWR, my only minor quibble with what you wrote is that I do think it’s fair to point out BO’s “borrowing” of Patrick’s lines, although I do agree it shouldn’t be treated as a huge, defining issue. I look at it as part of the overall picture: a candidate who has a thin resume, hasn’t served much time in the Senate, also mimics the campaign message of another candidate, sometimes word for word. I definitely don’t consider it “plagiarism” tho.

I also agree with T-Steel here. Enough nonsense about middle names, or using Gov. Patrick’s phrases, or the like. Over-reacting to campaign ads about who answers the phone in the white House at 3am falls into the same category, by the way. The real issues facing all of us are where we ought to be concentrating.

As for allegiance to America, what gives me the willies is the openly anti-American agenda of some of Obama’s supporters, like William Ayers, or the bunch in Houston who had the Che Guevara / Cuban flag motif dominating their HQ. If people like these would be in line for appointments to federal office, we’d be in trouble regardless of how solid President Obama’s allegiance may be.

Agree with you T-Steel. I feel there are more than enough substantive issues with Obama that need to be explored, not the least is his inability to handle even a rough and tumble campaign, to waste time with BS like middle names and such. Unfortunately that’s a sign of the typical lowest common denominator politics, but everyone should ignore that kind of BS and focus on important policy and other issues that really matter.

What I saw was a presidential candidate (Senator Obama) who was unprepared to get hit from all directions simultaneously on the eve of important primaries. It showed. An elderly black man at the ol’ barber shop this morning said this:

It’s on now Barack. Better get sharp and handle your business. No more love now.

I’m just going to wait and see how Senator Obama handles this assault. But I’ll say it again, if all of this brings him down, I’m glad it will be about the relevant issues, not his damn middle name and stupid assertions about his allegiance to America.
