I'm not a fan of McCain, but with the exception of McCain/Feingold, I have admired his tenacity about going after pork barrel spending. It is one of the reasons that I have been an advocate of the Fair Tax. Americans need to see how much they are actually losing in taxes. Until that happens, there will not be any outrage from the grass roots to get spending under control. We might as well all be pigs at the trough. Because of the way the Income Tax is administered, and because of all the hidden taxes that we pay directly or indirectly of a daily basis, the average American has no clue how much is actually going out the door. There will never be a spending reform, without getting tax reform.

"Pork barrel" spending and national security are two important issues where McCain "gets it".

At least it's something... :-?

If McCain concentrates on issues like fighting earmarks and the need for experience in fighting the war against Islamofascism - positions that will resonate with conservatives and most of the rest of the public - it will help him considerably in November.

Excellent post, Sister, and dead spot-on. We need more pork-busters in the GOP like McCain. Too many are playing games on this issue, and it's a big reason why they lost congress.
