Robert it will be interesting to see if you are still singing BO’s praises once the Rezko trial is over. Seems like the Slobodon Blagoavich’s name is being dropped, and hopefully his days are numbered. From the Chicago Tribune:

Alchemist, there is a huge difference between saying someone is a “Gift from God” and fainting, especially when you consider that we were just coming off of 8 years of Ol’ BJ’s term as President. GW was definately a Gift from God compared to that idiot. Also this is more about Chris Matthews. When is the last time you heard Limbaugh say GW gave him a “thrill up his leg”??? Severian: It’s not just a democrat thing. They’re’s tons of videos of Bush supporters claiming that he was a ‘gift from god’. They just tend to be an older population, so they don’t jump around as much.

I think it’s an American thing to become infatuated with our politicians. My experience with Europeans (& Canadians) is that they tend to be justifiably more cynical.

The politician, the preacher, and the choir.
Senator Obama, and the Democratic Party, had to quell the ‘Hate America First’ crowd that makes up their liberal base. He had to be careful not to offend that base so he conjured up the crazy uncle to trivialize outright lies and deliberate distortions. He needs those lies and distortions so he (or some other Democrat) can be the champion of change.
The politician pointed out the obvious —there is a gap between the haves and the have nots in this country (and the rest of the world). The preacher dwelt upon a host of bad choices made by free people in the past to a choir that was anxious to hear their plight was not of their own making. Somebody else had to be responsible for crime, durgs, poverty, unemployment, and all the other social ills that have plagued nations for millenia. That choir needs somebody else to provide food, clothing, shelter and health care for them. The Democrat platform promises all that, and more, if only they get elected.
The ‘crazy uncle’ may have provided a public voice to the marketing strategy created by internal polling data. Candidates need to know what buttons to push and what hot topics to avoid. They pay big bucks to shape their message to their audience. When that message went beyond the choir to a larger public audience, it was offensive and devisive. The candidate who promised hope and unity had to distance himself from the message without losing his audience.

This is an example of exactly what I have commented on before about Dem/liberals and their reaction to their candidates/politicians. They don’t just agree with them, or like them, they devolve into screaming teenagers watching the Beatles deplane, fainting, swooning, screaming. No critical thinking skills on display, no reasoned and rational evaluation, just hyper-emotionalism and a childlike crush which wipes out any semblance of critical thought. That’s why they tend to put up candidates who are such basket cases and who, like Obama and Kerry, get hammered by the “real world” when the going gets tough, they swoon over them so much they never actually look at and vet them.

It’s bad enough that the average Dem/lib does this, it’s reprehensible in the extreme that the damned news media does it. So much for any attempt at objectivity, you can see idiots like Matthews and others practically orgasm on TV when they talk to Bubba or The Messiah. The chance of objective journalism from these people is less than zero, then they act just stunned when their heroes are inevitably shown to have feet of clay.

Bah.
