Friday open thread

I’m getting ready to head out and will likely not have network access of any sort for at least half the day, if not all of it (long story). Brian at Liberty Pundit is taking a bit of a “blog break” but has graciously agreed to keep an eye on the moderation que this morning and later this afternoon. In the event your comment gets stuck in moderation, please be patient – he’ll get to it when he can, or I will when I have access to do so again.

Apologies for the light daytime blogging this week. It’s been one of those weeks, and as a result I’ve tried to make up for it in the evening. Thanks for bearing with me :)

It seems that filming the activities of ‘Peace’ activists can get you attacked. Skye, at Midnight Blue was slapped by a ‘Peace’ activist twice. Check it out.

    Here’s a shocker:

Chelsea: Mom would make better Pres. than dad

As an only child, Chelsea Clinton never has to worry about her parents picking a favorite kid.

But the former “first daughter” had to make a choice Friday when she was asked whether her mother or father would make a better president — and she sided with mom.

I didn’t see that one coming. Of course, a garden slug would make a better president that her father so I suppose it’s understandable.

I’m told #7 Stop-Loss opened to only $1.6 million Friday from just 1,291 plays and should eke out $4+M. Although the drama from MTV Films was the best-reviewed movie opening this weekend, Paramount wasn’t expecting much because no Iraq war-themed movie has yet to perform at the box office. “It’s not looking good,” a studio source told me before the weekend. “No one wants to see Iraq war movies. No matter what we put out there in terms of great cast or trailers, people were completely turned off. It’s a function of the marketplace not being ready to address this conflict in a dramatic way because the war itself is something that’s unresolved yet. It’s a shame because it’s a good movie that’s just ahead of its time.”

Perhaps people are sick of Hollywood bashing the war, and sick of all the anti-war movies being peddled by Hollywood.
