Puts me in mind of that shot of John Kerry hiking a football like some professional geek. These are the “human touches” that are supposed to appeal, but usually expose them as panderers. They should only do that for which they have an actual talent or expertise. Slick Willy and Huckabee jammed. They weren’t great, but they didn’t suck. They didn’t look like buffoons. Obama and Kerry and those like them might be “good sports”, but I see no real value in looking stupid.

Is there some “political gene” that candidates possess that make them pander so obviously when they get desperate? What makes them think that because they fake it at bowling, all the PA bowlers are suddenly going to throw up their hands, declare: “I see the light!” and decided to vote for the O-man? I do so not get this.

And this is so unnecessary. The way I see it, Hillary has all the votes in PA she is ever going to get. Most of the uncommitteds and undecideds will, I suspect, go for O. So: Obama is in an “expectations reduction” mode here. Really: all he has to do is appeal to his own base and make sure they come out.

The print punditocracy and les tetes qui parlent on cable news have already decreed that if Obama keeps Hillary’s margin down to single digits, then he has exceeded the expectations bar. So why waste time among the Hillary-committed?

Makes no sense to me.

Pool would have been a better choice. Lighting is dim, everyone’s drinking beer, and it’s a lot more fun to lose at pool.

His bowling ability probably parallels his ability to run the nation, too: piss poor.
