Would somebody please tell me how ABC could use George Stephanopolous, a one-time Clinton apparatchik, as moderator for a debate that includes a Clinton.

Why not? He hosts a Sunday program on ABC that takes to task all the candidates, including Hillary Clinton. If he can’t moderate a debate that includes her, then he shouldn’t be hosting a political news show where discussions about her happen every broadcast, either.

Also, I assume that it was noted on ABC’s website well in advance who the moderators were going to be. To my knowledge, no one complained about it at the time.

Or, to put it another way: baseball fans know that there’s a major league pitcher named Randy Wolf, who I believe is now with the San Diego Padres. On the umpiring staff is his brother, Jim Wolf.

Naturally, Commissioner Bud Selig does not permit Jim to umpire any games Randy pitches.

This was, apparently, so bad a move, and the questioning of the Illinois Kid was so atrocious, that some members of the Priesthood who serve the Holy Temple of the Modern Major Media were shocked more than somewhat, as Howie Kurtz reports:

I am amused that the right, which normally is shocked, shocked, at the antics of the journalists (Laura Ingraham sticks up for ABC?), this time praises them for “tough questioning,” while the Huff-Kos left (some of whom still think Dan Rather was right the first time about that memo), which normally clutches all of the priesthood to its bosom, this time cryeth foul.

Also, as you all will not have failed to notice, all these attacks against the Illinois Kid seem to bounce off him, at least insofar as the primaries are concerned.

As for the General Election: we shall see.
