From today’s WSJ Online, some background on John McCain you might not know.

For one, Medal of Honor winner Bud Day describes what happened after a sadists in charge of the Hanoi Hilton tried to set his broken arm in such as way that it would be permanently misshapen:

But it didn’t heal that way because of John McCain. Risking severe punishment, Messrs. McCain and Day collected pieces of bamboo in the prison courtyard to use as a splint. Mr. McCain put Mr. Day on the floor of their cell and, using his foot, jerked the broken bone into place. Then, using strips from the bandage on his own wounded leg and the bamboo, he put Mr. Day’s splint in place.

Years later, Air Force surgeons examined Mr. Day and complemented the treatment he’d gotten from his captors. Mr. Day corrected them. It was Dr. McCain who deserved the credit.

    Read the whole thing.

What’s interesting is that Obama has based his entire campaign on personal character, not on issues (at least until bad character references like Wright and Ayers popped up). McCain, on the other hand, hasn’t spent time boasting about his character. Maybe he should.

I still have more than a few policy differences with McCain, but there’s no doubt he has the strength of character required for a successful presidency.

‘Tis a good story. If only there weren’t those massive policy differences with McCain,….

    WTH…..This from McClatchy??

What Clinton never includes in the oft-repeated tale is the role that prominent Democrats played in selling the company and its technology to the Chinese. She never mentions that big-time Democratic contributor George Soros helped put together the deal to sell the company or that the sale was approved by her husband’s administration.

Ohhhhhh Right, they are in the tank for BO. How silly of me. – Lorica

OMG Lorica. I read the story at your link. That is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen on the part of our country. Not sure who is to blame, but it looks like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton share the blame here.

If this keeps up, eventually every manufacturing job from this country will be moved to China and we will be dependent on them for just about everything.

Well at least we will still have trial lawyers and politicians. =)) – Lorica

    D.C. Madam commits suicide

Deborah Jeane Palfrey was found guilty on April 15 by a D.C. jury on charges of racketeering and money laundering related to her operating a prostitution ring.

She had threatened to reveal the names of her clients — many believed to be high-profile political and business figures — if prosecutors went forward with their case.

She wasn’t scheduled to testify against the Clintons was she????

  10. Just blogged about that here, NC.
