I would rather see these guys suspend the myriad blends that our refining plants are forced to waste time on. In 1999 Cheney said we needed to get down to 6 blends and the price of gasoline would drop considerably. At that time we were refining over 60 blends of gasoline. All of these states and areas that have laws for special gas, should be forced to provide their own refining capabilities for that gasoline, the rest of us should not have to pay for their foolishness. – Lorica

I find it rather pathetic that three candidates are running for president and trashing each other over a policy proposal for this summer when none of them can be president before next winter.

The first article (appearing in Columbia Journalism Review) is a hagiography of an Al Jazeera “journalist” from Sudan who was recently released from Club Gitmo. The latter describes another “victim” of Club Gitmo. No doubt suffering from post-Bush Stress Disorder, Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi sought to relieve his tensions by slaughtering other Muslims.

It’s a silly populist move. (”Silly” and “populist” are synonyms…) If gas taxes are too high, then the best thing to do is …gasp!… lower them for the forseeable future, not just three months. The combination of state, federal, and local taxes is around 50% of one’s total gas bill.

Did McCain tell Arianna Huffington that he didn’t vote for Bush in 2000? Hmm. Oh and, re: McCain: Why does this not surprise me? Sigh.

My reaction is “Who cares?” That was eight years ago, and McCain and Bush have learned to work together since. Which, by the way, shows they both have more maturity than most Democrats in Congress.
