Also, if we would have started to drill in ANWR in 1997, the global price of oil would be considerably less that what it is today and we would not be in this situation. Thank Bill Clinton for that stupidity. Also, speaking of Bill, didn't he ask Saudi Arabia to cut supply so that Russia would be able to make more money from their oil supply?? Thanks again Bill. How can we trust this man's wife with our oil supply if her idiot husband bent us over 10 years ago. - Lorica

—– More than 200 economists have criticized Hillary Clinton and John McCain's "gas tax holiday" plans. What do you think of it?
I would rather see these guys suspend the myriad blends that our refining plants are forced to waste time on. In 1999 Cheney said we needed to get down to 6 blends and the price of gasoline would drop considerably. At that time we were refining over 60 blends of gasoline. All of these states and areas that have laws for special gas, should be forced to provide their own refining capabilities for that gasoline, the rest of us should not have to pay for their foolishness. - Lorica

Our lovely hostess asked:

I find it rather pathetic that three candidates are running for president and trashing each other over a policy proposal for this summer when none of them can be president before next winter.

Two contrasting articles:

Prisoner 345 What happened to Al Jazeera's Sami al-Haj

And this:

Ex-Gitmo Detainee Believed Responsible for Homicide Bombing In Iraq

The first article (appearing in Columbia Journalism Review) is a hagiography of an Al Jazeera "journalist" from Sudan who was recently released from Club Gitmo. The latter describes another "victim" of Club Gitmo. No doubt suffering from post-Bush Stress Disorder, Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi sought to relieve his tensions by slaughtering other Muslims.

Joseph Goebbels must be smiling from the Great Below, since journalists like Rachel Morris have elected to carry on his proud tradition.

More than 200 economists have criticized Hillary Clinton and John McCain's "gas tax holiday" plans. What do you think of it?

It's a silly populist move. ("Silly" and "populist" are synonyms...) If gas taxes are too high, then the best thing to do is ...gasp!... lower them for the forseeable future, not just three months. The combination of state, federal, and local taxes is around 50% of one's total gas bill. :-w

Did McCain tell Arianna Huffington that he didn't vote for Bush in 2000? Hmm. Oh and, re: McCain: Why does this not surprise me? Sigh.

My reaction is "Who cares?" That was eight years ago, and McCain and Bush have learned to work together since. Which, by the way, shows they both have more maturity than most Democrats in Congress. l-)
