An interesting piece by Mark Steyn about the Democrat Party’s flexible view of military service. In the tradition of Orwell’s bleating sheep, here is the MSM’s line for the current and past few elections:

1988 – Military service baaaaaad, draft dodging baaaaaad, Boston-Austin cooooooonection goooooood.

    1992 – Military service baaaaaad, draft-dodging goooood.

    1996 – Military service baaaaaad, draft-dodging goooood.

2000 – Military service baaaaaad, save the eeeeeeeeeenvironment goooood.

2004 – Military service baaaaaad, possibly fighting in Caaaaaaaambodia and throwing away meeeeeeedals (unsure because of seeeeeeeeared memories) gooooood.

2008 – Military service baaaaaad, no military service diiiiiiiiiiitraction hooooooooope chaaaaaaaaaange gooooood.

    That’s priceless, MD!!!!

So basically McCain was “lucky” to have been captured and tortured for years because he avoided witnessing all the problems that war heroes like John Kerry did.

I cannot believe that anyone with an IQ above 50 would actually write that and believe it. Then again, we are talking NYT.

  3. Great White Rat says:

Down 27 points in some polls heading into this week’s primary in Kentucky, Barack Obama has a new set of excuses ready.

First, he blames one of the far-left’s favorite bogeymen – Fox News:

He also blamed Fox News for disseminating “rumors” about him…”There are a lot of voters who get their news from Fox News. Fox has been pumping up rumors about my religious beliefs or my patriotism or what have you since the beginning of the campaign.”

Uh huh. You sat enraptured for 20 years listening to a racist preacher screaming hate for America…did Fox News force you to do that? I’ll bet it was Bill O’Reilly who advised you not to wear the flag pin and insult those who do. I’m sure it was none other than Megyn Kelly who’s responsible for Obama’s friendship with terrorists like Ayers and Dohrn. And if we look real close at the video clips from your Houston HQ, we’ll probably find Rupert Murdoch himself hanging up the Che Guevara flag.

Yup…just because you take your spiritual guidance from an anti-American bigot, pal around with anti-American terrorists, permit your campaign HQs to feature banners of anti-American guerillas, and insult people who proudly wear the Stars and Stripes is NO reason for anyone to doubt your patriotism. It’s gotta be Fox News. :-\

In case that doesn’t work, he has a backup excuse: no one in KY knows who he is:

“What it says is that I’m not very well known in that part of the country,” Obama said. “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas.”

In other words, “to know me is to love me.” Maybe someday they’ll get modern conveniences like TV, phones, and newspapers down there in Dogpatch and then Obama will win handily. Or maybe even Al Gore’s internet will make it across the border from Tennessee.

But just for chuckles, let’s look at the map. Kentucky is bordered by Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and ….ILLINOIS????? WTF??? Wait, I thought he said Arkansas was closer?? Maybe he was thinking of some other Kentucky??

Also, isn’t it funny that Obama didn’t use the “Arkansas is closer” excuse when he won Mississippi, and somehow being from next door in Illinois didn’t help him win Indiana.

But he’s got one more reason:

“We’re having to campaign in a lot of different places” Obama said.

Poor baby…having to campaign in not only Kentucky but Oregon too!! Wait’ll the general election, when he finds out he has to campaign in all 50 57 states. That will be a rude awakening.

GWR, Yet more evidence that Chicagoians do NOT believe they are part of Illinois. The rest of us from downstate or midstate IL are just a bunch of Po’dunks who are lucky we are able to get an 8th grade education. This man is such an idiot. Perhaps he got confused as to which of the 57 states Kentucky is. – Lorica

    1. Voting is a Distraction.

    2. Voting is Divisive.

    3. Voters are embittered G*d-and-gun-clinging typical white people.
