Governor Paterson has 2.5 years to prove he's worthy of being reelected. Since I like to start politicians out with an A and let them flunk themselves, I'll decide in 2.5 years. I'll say now, though, that the Governor still has his A with me.

He's moved quickly to admit his character flaws before the mediots could dribble them out, and he's already healing the wounds created by former Gov. Spitzer's attempt to govern by fiat.

If Hillary decides that with the cold shoulders she's sure to be receiving in the Senate she'd be better off running for governor, by all means let her challenge Gov. Paterson in the primary and make her case. He himself is a skilled pol, and he shouldn't have to run as a victimized legally blind black man being challenged by a white person. (He will, no doubt, know when to imply it, though--he is no fool.

I notice among the names cited by ST as concerned is Bill Perkins's. Before he was elected to the State Senate, he was city council member for my district and in fact he became the deputy speaker. He doesn't represent me in the Senate, alas. I missed him by a few blocks when they <strike>gerrymandered</strike>redistricted a few years ago.

<blockquote>African American leaders said she could repair frayed ties by visiting black churches, backing legislation that shows she is sensitive to conditions in black neighborhoods, and apologizing for comments she and her husband made that seemed to polarize voters and marginalize Obama.</blockquote>

Translation: Donate a hefty sum to Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson and we'll forgive you.

Ahhhh, yes.
