ABC News officially joins the Media Global Warming Alarmists Network

Ok … well, such a network doesn’t officially exist, but considering the fact that other media outlets like NBC/MSNBC and The Weather Channel (as well as information outlets like Google) have already given in to alarmist propaganda about gw, it sure seems like there is one, and it only stands to reason that ABC was sure to follow. The Business and Media Institute has this write-up on a future ABC program titled “Earth 2100”:

Working with left-wing activists, the network is warning people that civilization is poised to go the way of the Roman Empire and the Mayan civilization. The Web site promo for “Earth 2100” discusses “100 years from now when New York is abandoned.”

The network is promoting its “Earth 2100” program, due for a fall release after it can gather enough viewer feedback about what will have happened in the next 92 years.

As “Good Morning America” co-anchor Chris Cuomo put it on June 12: “We’re asking you to create a story that has yet to unfold Γ’β‚¬β€œ what our world will look like in 100 years if we don’t save our troubled planet.”

According to the network’s special Web site, http://www.earth2100.tv/, “The world’s brightest minds agree that the Γ’β‚¬Λœperfect storm’ of population growth, resource depletion and climate change could converge with catastrophic results.”

Although none of these “brightest minds” are named on the Web site, the video includes NASA’s James Hansen and the Weather Channel’s Heidi Cullen, two of the most well-known global warming scaremongers.

Naturally, the site warns that even in 2015 “global temperatures are rising faster than expected.” Oil prices, gas prices, milk prices have skyrocketed. War, famine, drought, floods, hurricanes and immigration all plague the United States. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are quite busy in ABC’s future.

A story on the ABC News Web site quotes Peter Gleick, president of the Pacific Institute, saying as ABC put it, “The time to act is now.” “The 21st century is going to be the century which determine[s] whether we live or die as a sustainable species,” Gleick told ABC. Although the institute claims to be “nonpartisan” the organization has lobbied for increased government regulation of fuel standards and Gleick has criticized global warming skeptic Bjørn Lomborg.

Check out this short promo for Earth 2100, which aired on this morning’s “Good Morning America”:

More from the B&MI:

According to the story, ABC is seeking video submissions. “We are asking you to use your imagination to create short videos about what it would be like to live through the next century if we stay on our current path. Using predictions from top experts, we will brief participants on global conditions in the years 2015, 2050, 2070 and 2100 Γ’β‚¬β€œ and we want you to describe the dangers that are unfolding before your eyes.”

These clueless wonders are obviously willing and eager to buy into – hook, line, and sinker – that the debate is “over” because the fraudulent IPCC has repeatedly said as much. This in spite of the fact that over 30,000 scientists (and probably a lot more than that) simply are not buying the hype.

This latest cave to the agw propaganda machine is disappointing yet not surprising. Next thing you know, they’ll have “experts” on their programs claiming, as The Goracle has, that skeptics are nothing more than conspiracy theorist/flat earther types who are in “denial” about “reality.” This line of attack has caught on, as Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) (who is also Chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee) used a similar line in her Democrat radio address on global warming a couple of weeks ago:

“There are some in the Senate who insist that global warming is nothing more than science fiction. These are the same kind of voices who said that the world was flat, cigarettes were safe and cars didn’t need airbags – long after the rest of us knew the truth.”

She even tried to justify her call to arms on global warming by invoking a religious argument:

“Religious leaders have urged us to act now as well. They reminded me of a wonderful quote that motivates me to work as hard as I can for as long as it takes to responsibly address global warming. These words stay with me: ‘When God created the first man, he took him around to all the trees in the Garden of Eden and said to him “see my handiwork, how beautiful and choice they are. Be careful not to ruin and destroy my world, for if you do ruin it, there is no one to repair it after you.”‘

Global warming skepticism: A sacrilege!
