They're right but don't know it. Rome fell after a prolonged warm period started to wane, with decreasing temperatures, barbarian hordes were being displaced due to crop failures and warfare over limited resources.

LOL!! It must have been from all those factories and SUV's the barbarians were driving around in at the time.:d

not saying that man should be subservient to tiny fish or salamanders.
=)) Absolutely =))

You know I am not against solar or wind power. My problem is that we are in a self made crisis. It is horse droppings to think any other way. The problem is that the party that "cares for the little guy" is the same party that is making it hard for us to live. It is possible to get back to cheaper gas, but it is time to start uncapping wells, and drilling our own resource. This is the only way to help the people in the developing world. Oil is the fuel that developed this country, and now it is to expensive to be used by other contries to develop. How many new homes now have geothemal, and solar?? Many. - Lorica

Worldwide there was a significant natural warming trend in the 1980's and 1990's as a Solar cycle peaked with lots of sunspots and solar flares. That ended in 1998 and now the Sun has gone quiet with fewer and fewer Sun spots, and the global temperatures have gone into decline. Earth has cooled for almost ten straight years. So, I ask Al Gore, where's the global warming?

The cooling trend is so strong that recently the head of the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had to acknowledge it. He speculated that nature has temporarily overwhelmed mankind's warming and it may be ten years or so before the warming returns. Oh, really. We are supposed to be in a panic about man-made global warming and the whole thing takes a ten year break because of the lack of Sun spots. If this weren't so serious, it would be laughable.

....

All the computer models, all of the other findings, all of the other angles of study, all come back to and are based on CO2 as a significant greenhouse gas. It is not.

Here is the deal about CO2, carbon dioxide. It is a natural component of our atmosphere. It has been there since time began. It is absorbed and emitted by the oceans. It is used by every living plant to trigger photosynthesis. Nothing would be green without it. And we humans; we create it. Every time we breathe out, we emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. It is not a pollutant. It is not smog. It is a naturally occurring invisible gas.

....

Numerous independent research projects have been done about the greenhouse impact from increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide. These studies have proven to my total satisfaction that CO2 is not creating a major greenhouse effect and is not causing an increase in temperatures. By the way, before his death, Roger Revelle coauthored a paper cautioning that CO2 and its greenhouse effect did not warrant extreme countermeasures.

....

I suspect you haven't heard it because the mass media did not report it, but I am not alone on the no man-made warming side of this issue. On May 20th, a list of the names of over thirty-one thousand scientists who refute global warming was released. Thirty-one thousand of which 9,000 are Ph.ds. Think about that. Thirty-one thousand. That dwarfs the supposed 2,500 scientists on the UN panel. In the past year, five hundred of scientists have issued public statements challenging global warming. A few more join the chorus every week. There are about 100 defectors from the UN IPCC. There was an International Conference of Climate Change Skeptics in New York in March of this year. One hundred of us gave presentations. Attendance was limited to six hundred people. Every seat was taken.

Link

Panic not, friends! I won't play this silly game because I'm sure we'll be doing jes fine in 2100.

I'm reminded of a famous quote by screenwriter William Goldman, who when asked about Hollywood moguls figure out which movies would become boxoffice hits quipped, "nobody knows anything."

Another thing to keep in mind: Aesop (was it him?) wrote the story of Chicken Little to describe what happens when people panic over nothing. The Chickster is the dupe, not the hero of the tale.

The simple fact is, that when people read terms like "never before" when discussing stories relating to weather phenomena, they should remember that accurate weather data have been kept only since the advent of weather satellites. So "never before" really means "since 1979 this has never happened before."

And the Priuses and the hybrid busses just keep on coming. And still, nobody knows anything.

Per ardua ad astra!

Sev, you are absolutely right. In Illinois the legislature couldn't drop a $0.05 per gallon tax because the "roads and bridges might suffer". What are they going to do if everyone starts to drive electric cars, or their energy is produced by solar or wind for every home and car??? They are going to put into place a tire tax, and a road use tax and every new tax under the sun, because they just can't live without their taxes. - Lorica

Seems to me that, like most things, the Left only likes religion when it suits their purposes Lorica. Like they only like the troops if they're behaving traitorously like Kerry and his lies before Congress.

Also seems to me that the Bible talks about giving man dominion over all the world and it's creatures, not saying that man should be subservient to tiny fish or salamanders.

or more correctly climate change
I am sorry but people need to stop correcting global warming. Climate Change is a fact of life, we like to call it seasons. The problem isn't change, it is the clueless who have no clue what is going to happen. It is tiresome to believe that these guys get to control this discussion. It is BS that they get to change the narrative when the weather doesn't conform to the agenda. Remember last years hurricane season?? Not a single hurricane made landfall in the US, but the whole of the south was having problems with drought. Perhaps the US needs hurricanes to provide long term water to these hotter regions of the country. Yet the year before was a record setting hurricane season, and these bb brains went on and on and on about how things are just going to get worse from there. Bull!!! They are clueless, and I am tired of throwing the baby out with the bath water everytime these chicken littles believe that the sky is falling.

Also, I thought the lastest crude oil finds put the notion that oil is a fossil fuel. Exactly what age of earth's history was 5 miles below the surface?? Crude oil is a by product of the earths core. It use to be called the black plague of good farm land. It would come out of the ground and destroy the soil, crops and all. This is most definately not a fossil fuel. - Lorica

We're asking you to create a story that has yet to unfold
I have never heard the lies behind global warming put so perfectly.

When God created the first man, he took him around to all the trees in the Garden of Eden and said to him "see my handiwork, how beautiful and choice they are. Be careful not to ruin and destroy my world, for if you do ruin it, there is no one to repair it after you
There is no point in the Holy Bible that this quote exists. I wish these God haters would stop quoting that which that have no clue about. - Lorica

How will we know that Al Gore believes what he preaches? When he lives in a modest dwelling without A/C, with simple wood stoves for heating and cooking, uses a hand pump for water, grows his own food, rides a bicycle, sails a boat, and quits burning up thousands of gallons of jet fuel to promote a doomsday scenario that he profits from!

Another thought occurred to me while reading the typical breathless pants wetting about "plug-in" hybrids that get "OMG, 100 mpg!" The only reason that works out cheaply now is that there aren't enough of them to matter, they fly below the radar of the state governments, who rely on gasoline taxes to keep the roads built and maintained. As soon as enough plug-in hybrids exist (and we won't even get to the question of where all this electricity that's replacing gas comes from if you won't allow coal fired or nuclear power plants) the government will shut down your use of relatively cheap electricity. There will be mandatory separate electrical systems installed that meter differently for juice used to recharge hybrid batteries. And then suddenly they won't be saving you much money if any over gasoline. The state and federal government will demand, and get, their pound of flesh one way or the other.

I am sick and tired of the typical liberal short attention span solutions to problems that either make things worse by inducing more problems or are just not going to make any real changes that amount to anything.

Maybe the earth is warming and we can stop it, and maybe it isn't. But this "the debate is over" business is fascist.

Jonah Goldberg lays it all out in "Liberal Fascism", a book I'm sure you're all familiar with.

Well, no outcome is certain until it occurs, so from that point of view global warming, or more correctly climate change, is not certain.

What is certain is that we humans are requiring exponentially more energy as time passes and both this, as well as pollution from the sources used to meet this demand, are vital issues that need to be dealt with now, not in 10 or 20 years time.

Fossil fuels are a finite resource so we need to find ways to generate electricity without them, and the sooner we do so the sooner the problem will be solved. Add to that the strong possibility of damage to the earth by NOT following this course of action and the way seems clear.

We have the technology and the manufacturing capacity to do it right now.

I suppose that, the data having turned against them, Warmenists have concluded that their movement can be sustained on faith alone.

They may be right - they seem to have worn down what few intelligent policy makes were left, so that very few are willing to stand up against the only thing that can save the planet - a statist, collectivist restructuring of society.
