While wild speculation is driving up the price of oil, the idea that we cannot drill our way out of the current mess is moronic. My neighbor, yesterday said that if we started drilling and actually opened up ANWR and the continental shelves, prices would remain the same because of trading on the futures market. While many on the Left are reasonably intelligent, most have absolutely no concept of basic economics.

They get elected because there are enough leftists out there that actually believe that the government needs to be more involved in our lives. Personally the less that government does for us the better off we would be. Anyone that wants nationalized health care, or nationalized oil companies surely have never had to have dealt with the DMV or the Unemployment office.

The mind boggles. Not at this particular proposal, but at the sheer amazing stupidity of modern lefties who, despite all the evidence to the contrary, keep pushing the same awful solutions. Sure, why the hell not, just because nationalizing industry has never been beneficial is no reason not to try it one more time. I mean, with their constant refrain of “We can’t drill our way out of this” they’ve already proven they reject the admittedly nonsensical notion that supplies of any commodity have any influence on its price.

I’m beyond wondering how people this abysmally stupid get elected, I am now wondering why their constituents don’t storm their offices and defenestrate them.
