If that doesn't happen, my guess would be that the historians will chalk up his loss to his failure to have a plan B on Iraq. It's pretty hard to keep painting General Petraeus's plan, which by all accounts now would seem to be approaching something that could be called a "modest success" as a "ghastly failure." That is so <em>not</em> going to impress the "vital center," where my belief is that this election is going to be contested. :d/ Nicely phrased, as always, ST!
