Agreed, NC. And that’s about all he says that’s halfway rational.

Meanwhile, here’s another story, this one from the other side of The Pond. Police in a Scottish town distributed cards to be placed in the windows of local businesses. The cards were meant as a public service message listing the new non-emergency phone number for the police department.

Problem is, there’s a really offensive picture on the cards. One that’s so bad, the police are apologizing profusely and hastily recovering the cards – and probably hoping no riots break out before they can reclaim them all.

Hey GWR, Brit Hume’s column tonight dealt with a few “I hate America” lefties and here’s a quote from one of them.

And Matthew Rothschild, editor of the left-wing magazine The Progressive, says he’s no patriot because, “Patriotism has done more to stack the corpses millions high in the last 300 years than any other factor.”

Sounds vaguely familiar to some of the things Sowell mentioned. How interesting.

I do agree with Rothschild on one account….he’s no patriot.

Just in time for Independence Day – and also as a rebuttal to leftists like Chris Satullo – comes another brilliant column from Thomas Sowell:

Does patriotism matter?

It’s a pointed lesson on how quickly a nation can lose its will to exist and its liberty once it begins focusing on the same kind of pacifist and internationalist drivel the left thrives on today.
