I might have known there was some “confusion” in his statement. I just get a little frustrated when I read things like that.

But a spokesman for al-Maliki said his remarks “were misunderstood, mistranslated and not conveyed accurately.”

Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the possibility of troop withdrawal was based on the continuance of security improvements, echoing statements that the White House made Friday after a meeting between al-Maliki and U.S. President Bush.

Not sure if this is true, but if it is, I’m a little P.O.’d.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki told a German magazine that he supports Barack Obama’s plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq within 16 months of taking office.

“U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is right when he talks about 16 months” al-Maliki told Der Spiegel. He said he wants U.S. troops to leave “as soon as possible.”

It’s getting more and more difficult defending the reasons to stay, especially with this genius at the helm. Before you give an endorsement of Obama’s plan, Maliki, remember that if it was up to Obama we would have bailed out of Iraq a long time ago, and you most likely would be dead.

They want us gone so much fine, I say let’s get out of there and let him fend for himself.
