What’s most striking to me is that he doesn’t say “If I WERE Commander-in-Chief” or “I WOULDN’T be doing my job”. He’s already talking as if he’s the president. And a mind-reader.

The reporters’ annoyance is funny but not at all surprising. They’re asking questions for a presidential candidate and he’s answering like he’s a scandal-ridden mayor trying to dodge hardballs.
