Apparently the military told Obama that he couldn’t make the visit a campaign event, that he could be accompanied by his Senate staffers but not campaign workers, and that he couldn’t bring his own media. So rather than visit without the campaign photo op, he scrubbed the whole thing.

Realistically he probably figured that hardly any of the individual service members would vote for him anyway, and since the entire trip is a staged campaign event the restrictions were a deal breaker.

Shows you his priorities. If he can make himself the center of the visit, fine, but if the troops are center stage, then who the hell do they think they are, anyway?
