Friday open thread

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on August 22, 2008 at 9:18 am

Not sure when I’ll be back today to blog, so I wanted to get this open thread posted first thing.

A few quick links: Time’s Mark Halperin is quoting 2 GOP sources who are saying that McCain’s VP pick is Romney.  The NYTimes writes that it’s down to Romney and Pawlenty.  Obama announced yesterday that he’s made his pick, but he ain’t tellin’ … til perhaps tomorrow (or maybe today?).  CNN is reporting that yesterday Obama called some of the “runner-ups” to tell them they weren’t his choice.

Stay tuned …

Hillary wasn’t even vetted!!! =)) OMG this guy has totally forgotten who runs the Dem party. Bill Corleone Clinton is not going to be happy. He might be “retired” but he still is pulling the strings.

This offense just adds fuel to the fire that Hillary is going to contest the Dem convention, and she is going to win the vote. She will be the next Dem Nominee. – Lorica

Romney would be a good choice for McCain. I love the drive bys as they are telling everyone that the Evangelicals would have a problem with him. All he would have to do is say in a national debate, what he has already said on the campaign trail. That Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior, and the Evangelicals would be in. – Lorica

It’s time for another round of “Democrat or Russian Propoganda”!!!!!!!

    Who wrote this:

Indict all of the US government officials and their allies who planned and carried out the 9/11 attacks

A preponderance of evidence shows that the highest officials of the Bush Administration, in collusion with many other officials from the Pentagon, CIA, FBI, FEMA, NSA, NORAD, New York City officials, air-traffic contollers, airline executives, controlled demolitions experts, computer graphics technicians, media executives, and others together planned and committed the horrible attacks of 9/11/2001 against the Pentagon and the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. The 9/11 attacks were immediately blamed on some bogus ‘Arab highjackers’, a half dozen of whom were later confirmed to be still alive, and therefore innocent, after the 9/11 attacks.

The false-flag 9/11 attacks provided the excuse for the US government’s ‘War on Terrorism’, the chief purpose of which is for the USA to gain control of the lucrative oil fields of the Middle East. A secondary purpose is to increase the taxation of US citizens for Defense spending in support of the USA’s enormous Military/Industrial Complex,

I know, I know, it’s tough isn’t it. This could have been said by Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, or Pravda.

    So who said it??

    Impeachment is Not Enough

Interesting, huh? It’s getting more and more difficult to tell the difference between our dems and the new age Russian propaganda machine.

  4. Severian says:

Well, NC Cop, I have an idea for Nancy Pelosi. Just translate her book into Russian, the sales will skyrocket.

But, if you point out that the leftist and Democrats sound exactly like our Russian and Islamist enemies (indistinguishable actually), they’ll shriek that you’re questioning their patriotism.

    ;)

  5. Leslie says:

the death penalty should be applied to all of the principals and their accomplices, even if that means executing several hundred or even several thousand people, because crimes of this magnitude against the American people and the US Republic cannot go unpunished, and the punishment must be extreme to send a message that the American people will not tolerate such Treason — not now or in the future.

I still say it’s Robespierre and I still say to hell with it.

    :((

And it just gets worse and worse!!!!!!!!

Bush’s Popularity Seems to Benefit From Success of Troop Surge

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

The data put Bush’s approval rating around 30 percent — not a ringing endorsement, but it comes the same week as some more-favorable reports on the Bush record.

“Probably the most significant factor in this reevaluation has been the success of the surge in Iraq,” said political analyst Larry Sabato, who is a professor at the University of Virginia.

Almost all the experts said it wouldn’t work and it did work and the evidence is everywhere. When a president is right and all of his critics are wrong, sooner or later voters who are not hard partisans recognize that and give the president credit.”

Think that’s crazy? Check this out.

This week’s cover story in Newsweek magazine, while still critical of Bush — especially the decisions that led the country into Iraq — now states that the administration learned from its failure and set a new course.

“The foreign policies in place now are more sensible, moderate and mainstream,” Newsweek International Editor Fareed Zakaria writes. “In many cases, the next president should follow rather than reverse them.”

    OUCH!!! That’s gotta hurt!

Also this week, national security experts voiced optimism in an annual survey about the war in Iraq, the war against terror and U.S. security.

B-b-b-but Iraq is a failure!! Pelosi, Dean, Reid, Murtha, etc. all said so!!!

What is going on in the world?!?!?!??!

  7. Madness I tell, you madness!

  8. sunsettommy says:

So how does a possible Romney as VP make McCain any better a candidate?

I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.I will sit this one out and watch the amazingly close election.

Either one will be for massive taxes to stop what does not exist.AGW

    Sev says:

Let me remove any doubt: I am questioning their patriotism.

Latest evidence is here. Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina put a poster on the wall outside his office. It’s a poster honoring some of our fallen troops for their service by displaying their names and pictures. This report cites one case of public reaction:

a mother from Minnesota entered Jones’ office with tears in her eyes to thank him for displaying the picture of her son who had been killed while serving the nation.

Now, the poster has been removed. There’s a new House rule prohibiting it, and also bans displaying flags. I’ll give you three guesses who issued the rule forcing it had to come down. You’ll probably only need one.

  10. forest hunter says:

I’ve never questioned their patriotism. My question has more to do with which country their patriotism is alligned with. These tools have eliminated America from the long list of socialist/communist/Marxist possibilities.
