No, I think Steve's right. The pro-life and Christian part is actually much more important to them than the NRA membership. The NRA is just an easier one to spin in their favor--"ooh, you're killing Bambi." (Yes, I did, and he was delicious.)

I think if you took the NRA out of it only, you could keep the Christian part as well as her pro-life stance and they'd still openly call her the epitome of the American dream if she were a Democrat. They'd just play down just about everything that made her story part of the American dream and emphasize any slight 'left' leanings she may have ever had. But I see your point.

Gov. Palin has been viciously attacked by the same bunch who would be calling both her and her life story the epitome of the American dream...

Ha ha, good one, ST. You mean, if she were not an NRA member. If she wasn't a hunter. If she hadn't betrayed womyn by obstinately refusing to exercise a "choice" instead of bringing five fetus-parasites to term. If she wasn't a sincere Christian who doesn't use religion as a fig leaf or a bludgeon. If she didn't support Bush and the WOT.

Nope, she just does not fit the mold. The fact of her being a strong, independently minded, gutsy woman who doesn't hide behind victimhood completely disqualifies her.

Here's an interesting take on the infamous "Troopergate" incident.

Palins Troopergate may harm GOP

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Troopergate. It''s a political he-said, she-said that has dogged Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for nearly two months and is likely to do so for another two months leading to the Nov. 4 presidential election.

Sure we already know that, but what IS "troopergate"?

The accuser is blogger and rental car executive Andrew Halcro, a Republican-turned-Independent who lost to Palin in the 2006 governor''s race.

Gosh I don't see politics playing any part in this.....really.

The man in the middle is former commissioner, Monegan, who says Palin never told him to fire the trooper, but he felt pressure to do so from members of her administration.

Then there''s trooper Mike Wooten, who used a Taser on his stepson, Palin''s nephew Payton. Wooten has been reprimanded for violating nearly a dozen laws and departmental policies since December 2001.

Palin steadfastly denies the allegations, and with her signature resolve, said she welcomes the investigation. "Hold me accountable," she challenge her critics.

I love this woman!

So you have a trooper who, sounds to me like, never should have been wearing the badge. A weak chief who refused a transfer and admits he was NEVER told to fire the trooper but felt "pressured". Give me a break.

I hope the dems have more than this to use against her. LOL!!

You know, Palin has some problems.

She did listen to the rantings of anti-semitic pastor for like twenty years. Oh, wait, that was Obama.

Well, she did everything possible while in office to resist saving babies that managed to survive abortions. No, wait, Obama again.

She hasn't made a single noteworthy accomplishment in her entire political career. No, sorry, Obama again.

Wait, I got it! She was and is close friends with an terrorist unrepentant. Wait a second, that was Obama, too.

Well, we know she always sticks to party lines, and never acts against someone in her own party or crosses lines to work with someone from the opposing side. Oh no, Obama again.

Uh, Rezko? Uh, whines every time she gets rightfully questioned about her positions or experience? Uh, claimed the surge in Iraq would never work, proposed gutless cut-and-run instead and still doesn't give credit for success where it is due? Wait, those are all Obama, too!

b-( :d

Given the above stuff that follows Obama practically everywhere, no wonder the far left keeps spreading lies about Palin and keeps viciously insulting her. Their guy (not to mention Biden) has so many problems, it's ridiculous. Here's hoping the garbage they pile on Palin backfires big time.

If she flirted with the AIP a few years ago, it doesn't bother me. Heck, I once considered myself a Democrat,

The AIP connection doesn't bother me at all. She has always been a registered Republican. Just because she attended a few meetings back in the 90s doesn't mean she was going to join. I've gone to meetings of organizations I would never join just so I could see what the other side was thinking. :d

The only thing that worries me is her connection to the AIP. Which bears on it's website: "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions."

(Was on the site earlier, but can't get to it now... too much traffic I guess).

In all likelihood, this organization is probably just a minor inconvenience for the McCain campaign. (almost certainly a smaller problem than Obama's Trinity Church scandal) that Palin can straighten out with a good speech.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's
counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but
nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

Is anyone frustrated with the Republican/McCain supporters on Larry King, etc.? They sound so ignorant. They should study up on Palin's qualifications before appearing on national tv. Arrrgh!

They should study up on Palin’s qualifications before appearing on national tv. Arrrgh!

Yesterday I was contacted by the RNC by a very nice young lady, and in the middle of her spiel, I stopped her and told her that I would donate. :) I then told her that the only reason I was would donate is because of Sarah Palin. The nice young lady told me she is hearing that alot these days. :) Mac raised 4 million dollars in the 24 hours after Sarah Palin was announced. Yeah the MSM and the Libs are damn scared. - Lorica

About that "she wasn't vetted garbage," the Washington Times shot that down.

I'm convinced three things are in play here:

1) The Obama campaign is scared of the "Palin effect."
2) The media and the punditocracy can't stand it that they were fooled by the McCain campaign and that someone from outside the Eastern political elite was chosen.
3) Raw prejudice at a woman who would dare not to follow the "progressive" prescription for how a liberated woman should behave. It's the same crap Clarence Thomas and Miguel Estrada put up with for daring to be minority conservatives.
