#1, the author who goes under the name of Spengler is unpredictable, often insightful and always worth reading, whether you agree with him or not (and I frequently don´t). You cannot pigeonhole him as supporting any one party. As far as I know he is not an American at all.

I've always said that you can pick the President by .. who you would most like to sit across a table and drink a 6-pack of beer with ?

Reagan fit the bill. To a certain degree, so did Clinton. Bush 43 wouldn't drink the beer, but otherwise fit the bill.

Obama and especially Biden seem to belong to the Chardonnay crowd.

McCain would certainly talk and sip the beer, but Todd and Sarah Palin would most likely show up with a case of beer and some potato salad.

Let's Party !!

Here's an interesting item, from today's Asia Times:

How Obama lost the election

The writer seems to be a Clinton supporter who's still put off by the Biden selection. But there's some cogent analysis here too. For example, the reaction of Democrat party professionals to Obama's acceptance speech:

On television, Obama's spectacle might have looked like The Ten Commandments, but inside the stadium it felt like Night of the Living Dead.

The author contends that Obama is basically weak and insecure. While he's not a fan of Palin, he sees selecting Biden as a sign that Obama has no confidence in himself:

Joe Biden was a statement of weakness. McCain's selection was a statement of strength. America's voters will forgive many things in a politician, including sexual misconduct, but they will not forgive weakness.

That is why McCain will win in November, and by a landslide, barring some unforeseen event...

Obama, in short, is long on brains and short on guts.

Ouch. That's gotta leave a mark.

It's worth reading...including his theory as to why Obama didn't pick Hillary for VP.
